I don't know what my deal is. I have been eating Junior Mints like they're going out of style. And today we went to my parents' house for a late turkey day celebration, and my mom sent us home with homemade fudge. I can't put it down.

I thought chocolate was a health food.

Ok not in your DDC but I had a run in with the pregnancy police tonight. I wanted to have a half a glass of wine at dinner and my stepmother and aunt literally told me that my baby was going to have FASD. I got so upset I left without even eating. :

They have inside-out Junior Mints! DH and I just polished off a whole big box of them. Yum!

Diet coke here! I never drink the stuff - don't like it actually - and I'm always yelling at dh to slack off the stuff. But for some reason, this pregnancy I am totally craving it. I try not to drink it but when dh pours a glass I sneak a lot of sips and it tastes sooooo good! I feel so guilty and hope the artificial sweetner hasn't hurt the baby. Uggh!

I just got back from the movies where I ate my dinner-I only ate half because I shared with DP:

A tub of popcorn
nachos with extra cheese
Diet Coke-it was caffeine free

Yup dinner of champions!

i had no idea that there were so many self-appointed members of the pregnancy police walking around in public!

it's a good thing none of them were around in my first trimester when the only thing i could keep down (or even think about without getting ill) was soy chocolate pudding.

If half a glass of wine gave kids FASD, I'm sure half the population would have FASD.

it really makes me angry/annoyed that there aren't hard facts around FASD, because some of the mothers whose children had it claimed that they drank no more than 4 oz of alcohol the ENTIRE PREGNANCY. couldn't the people running those tests just say: "you are a liar. there is no way you're telling the truth." and throw out the data? why are they skewing the data for those of us who might want the freedom to have half a glass of wine once a week without being glared at or lectured?

It's not?

Seriously, the Pregnancy Police would be looking for me way before a lot of you. I'm like a fugitive on their most wanted list or something. I don't even want to tell you how much sugar I ate today, or all the other bad things I've done this pregnancy.

Also, why is there such a big stink about extraordinarily low consumption of alcohol? Don't people in Europe drink a little while pregnant? Heck, didn't women here in the 50s drink a ton while pregnant? Personally, I really wanted to order a Mai Tai last time I was out w/my husband, but I didn't think they'd serve an 8 month pregnant lady. I don't even know if it's okay, but I figured ONE DRINK at this phase might. Or a strawberry margarita... meh. Oh MAN, or this drink called "Blueberry Lemonade" at this bar by my house.

Ahem. I don't know why I've had a real alcohol craving lately, but I'm told I could have a glass of wine or a beer right now if I wanted. So... can I have one drink with booze? I don't like wine OR beer and I want a mojito or something.

When my Mom was prego with me her doctor told her that the only danger from drinking was drinking too much and falling down. She had about 3 beers a week and I didn't turn out too bad.

I never drank during pregnancy, but I was told beer was good for nursing mothers, so I developed a taste for Watneys.

"Hick!" -

Sometimes a chocolate craving is a sign of a calcium deficiency. (pica)

And sometimes it just means you like chocolate!

What my MW told me about alcohol:

The studies they did on FAS were done on women who drank a 6 pack of beer a day.

People in France drink wine like it's water-they don't have high rates of FAS there.

A glass of wine, or another drink may actually relax you once in a while. She said not to do it in public because of the preggo police.

I love my MW! I don't even drink a whole lot-I haven't had a drink this pregnancy just because I didn't want to-but knowing that I could if I wanted to is kind of nice!
