Would you pay to have your pictures scanned and fixed up?

and if so - how much? I need to earn some extra cash (in fact, my DH and I are having a contest to see who can pull in $500 first) and I'm wondering if this is something people would pay for if I put up flyers in the area etc. If anyone has a better idea I'd love to know! :

Me no I would not.
I would advertise probably on Craig's list though.

I would pay - maybe $8-10/hour or a flat rate per amount of photos (I would have to think about that - how much per photo), I would also pay to have negatives scanned.

It is such a hassle to do myself but I would love to have it done. I would want them provided to me at the highest quality possible, on DVDs (or CDs but I think DVD is more efficient?).

This would be a great Christmas gift for someone too!

I dfinitely think Craigslist is a good place to advertise.

I would be pretty picky about the quality and would want to see a few samples first - make sure the photos are straight.

I wouldn't mind about fixing up though I would prefer to do that myself.

Are you talking about "touching up" modern pictures or restoring old pictures?

A professional retoucher should easily make between $10-20 and hour when contracted by a photographer. If they're really good, it could easily be more. There is definitely a market for it, and it is an art.

I've done both - so either? I've had a friend pay me to scan and fix all her pics and then make a DVD slide show that was organized in the order that she wanted and she gave it away for Christmas to her family. I know many people know how to do this but sometimes people just don't want to so I don't know!

People would pay, just not me as I'm too frugal and cheap

For actual print pictures, no, I personally wouldn't, because I can do that myself. If you had a negatives scanner, though, I definitely would if the price was right!

I *can* do it myself too, but I never seem to find the time, I have actually thought about looking into having this done professionally but again haven't made the time to find out where/how

I agree for professional retouching type services more like $20/hour but I would not want that, I would just want the scanning services and that I would pay up to $10/hour.

I might pay to have my old photos scanned if it weren't too expensive. I've already scanned a lot of ours and now we're all digital. As for the touch-up-are you touching up the digital image or the actual photo? It would depend on the level of touch up and which you were doing.

That being said, I know MIL and probably several other family members that would really be into paying for this. MIL has boxes of pics and always talks about needing to get them backed up on DVD but she never has the time. I definitely think there's a market for it!

If you're talking professional or near-professional photoshop skills then yes, I think you'd have a market. Especially in "photographers" who have had their cameras for a month and are charging people for shoots - they hardly know how to work their cameras, so photoshop is a whole other world! Definitely a market there. Advertising on some photography forums might be a good idea. Good luck!
