Expired Debit Card Transactions

I hope someone can help me. I have 3 debit card transactions that expired. I mean they were authorized, and then they never completed and now they say expired and didn't take the money from my account. Will the businesses just run my debit card again? I know I owe this money, but it's a little complicated because it's my paypal debit card. The money for those transactions is still in there, but I need to send a paypal payment to someone. If I have a balance, it will take it from there first. If these payments had already gone through, it would do an instant transfer from my bank account.

But if I pay the paypal payment now, and they run the transactions again, I won't have the money in there. kwim? Transfering the money takes several days, but I guess I could put the debit card backup funding back on, but I just took it off because we were using it too much and it provided too easy of access to our savings account.

I thought I'd ask here first, because if I called or emailed paypal, it would take forever. I need to pay for some yarn for an order today. (I sell my knitting, I'm not just out shopping for fun. - trying not to do that either)

When did you do these transactions?

I used to work for a bank. When they run your debit number it goes on hold until they do their processing. At that point it goes back in to your available balance until the merchant produces their receipt. So it is possible to make a transaction today at the store, have it hold until midnight tonight, then not see it come out until said store produces proof to your bank. It is usually pretty fast, but I have seen it take up to a week for debits to post.

Actually, even though it's my debit card, it's run as a credit card. I made these purchases on the 19th & 20th.

It's just so weird. And confusing. I should just go back to cash. LOL

Debit or credit, either way it is the same. It is probably delayed because of the holiday.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to turn the backup funding back on to be safe.
