13 mo son retracted own foreskin- HELP!

While having naked time to help treat a diaper rash, my 13 mo son retracted his own foreskin, causing a tear in the skin.

I am freaked out, he is not. I put a diaper on him to keep him from aggrivating it any further, but... what else do I do? It's not like he ripped a huge gash in his skin, but he definitely pulled it back before it was ready.

My ds has done that, and it healed just fine after a few days. My dr swears that it happens a lot, freaks out parents, but is really not too bad.
It freaked me out, though!
As long as he is okay (no signs of infection, discomfort, etc), then I would just leave it alone and let it heal.

Thanks. It freaked me out, yes. He seems fine, though, like it doesn't bother him at all. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

He's allowed to retract his own forskin. Nobody else is allowed to.

If it hurt him excessively, he would have stopped. This is probably part of the normal retraction process. It was probably "almost ready to retract" or it would have hurt him when he pulled back, plus it would hurt now. Since it doesn't bother him, it must not be a serious injury.

The only thing i would add is to make sure the foreskin gets replaced-- if he continues to have fun pulling it back, just keep an eye on it to make sure its always replaced so that it doesn't get stuck behind the glans.

: : You can help sooth it by letting him sit in a nice warm bath with some baking soda. Just keep a eye on it but I bet it heals without problems. These things happen sometimes he will remember tho and not be so ruff next time I bet.

Thanks. My oldest son didn't retract his until he was about 2 and a half, and mt middle son still hasn't retracted his at 3, so I was really shocked to see the baby had done it.

It looks so painful, but like I said he seems unaffected by it, so..
