how many nights..

how many nights should I do the vaginally inserted garlic clove for yeast infection? This is night two. I do about 12 hours. I am at the beginning stages...minimal discharge, kinda itchy and irritated feeling. Three or four nights??

I'd say it depends on the infection. I've never needed more than two nights of it.

All I have ever needed was 1-2 nights, and my infections do not cure with over the counter meds like monistat. Only garlic works.

??? can you tell me more? i just treated a yeast infection with monistat and was looking for a natural cure. TIA

Suzyfakename: All you do is peel a clove of garlic and put it in your vagina overnight. I tie dental floss around it a couple of times with a string hanging down so I don't have to fish it out in the morning.

So much better than Monistat!

molck: thank you!
another few questions...do you have to insert it far or can you put it in shallow? does it sting or burn? what about odor?

Oh wow, doesn't it burn?

I luckily haven't had one for a long time, but when I did I would rinse the outside well with diluted vinegar (important or that will burn too!) and then use boric acid suppositories. They also work much better than the standard OTC stuff!!

Avoiding sugar and taking extra probiotics (acidophilus, etc) are also very helpful!

(sorry I know you didn't ask for more info but I thought I'd chime in since I am curious about the garlic! )

I'm curious about this too. I'm still not sure that I have a yeast infection - no odour, gross discharge, or itchiness - and it is looking/feeling a little better after doing three applications of unpasteurized honey, but I'd like to see what a garlic clove will do. However, I have to work in the morning (very public-oriented job) so I don't want to reek of garlic. I'll hold off until I see a reply.

In my experience, if you only use it for 1-2 days the yeasties might come back with a vengeance! Keep using it for a couple of days AFTER all of the symptoms are gone just to be sure.
