I guess the title says it all. I am switching to green cleaners and am disappointed to learn that vinegar will ruin the granite. What are my other solutions for cleaning. ALso what do you use to clean the pergo floors with?

thanks

For the most part you can just use warm water, or warm (mild) soapy water to clean granite. It is naturally cold, so does not support bacteria growth. You can double check with your fabricator to see what they suggest, but most will tell you warm water, or maybe window cleaner(no ammonia). Depending on how it was sealed originally, you may have to re-seal it every once in a while though.

I use a towel and plain warm water. Weekly, I use Seventh Generation brand glass cleaner, they have great info on their website regarding this question and the ph of their different products. I also have the Howard Naturals brand granite and marble cleaner and it has a nice grapefruit smell and shines up the granite nicely too.

Doesn't the plain water streak your granite pretty bad? I've noticed it does o mine- I need to find a good spray-on cleaner. My mom uses Cinch on hers, but the stuff is potent!!

Try just barely dampening a microfiber cloth with warm water. Microfiber catches dirt without damaging or leaving streaks. If you have a real mess, you could add a little dish soap.

I've been using "Merlin's Magic" from CHCP. It's a mixture of distilled water, Dr Bronners (I used lavendar) and TTO. The recipe is

8 oz. distilled water
2 tbsp. Dr. Bronner's
20 drops Tea Tree Oil

But that was too soapy for me, so I added more water. Working great on our granite so far

For daily cleaning I use warm water with a tiny bit of dishsoap and dry/buff with a microfiber cloth. For protecting it, I have tried some Method brand granite spray from Target. I don't think it is as natural as it claims, but it does work nicely if you buff it well afterwards. I only do that maybe once a month if that. If I have company coming over I use ammonia-free glass cleaner to make it nice and shiny, but I honestly rarely do this. Typically I just wash it with the dishwater and dry it with the microfiber cloth.
