How do you get baby in carrier in cold/bad weather? - Page 2

have not read all of the posts and perhaps someone already suggested similar. i hear CatBird Baby makes a really cool fleece-type coat that clips onto the straps of most SSC's and Mei Tai's. It's a big hit w/moms in Brooklyn and Queens (NYC). Someone had it and word spread.

If he's slipping down, are you tying the knot under his bum? It can help, when you are putting him in, to lean way forward and scootch him up your back while tying the under-bum knot. I also find it helps to tie the bottom strap around my waist, NOT my hips. Keeps the kid higher on the back and closer to my body.
Here is what I do. I do the Santa Toss to get him up there. I tie the bottom straps around my waist, very tightly. I'm leaning way over and I pull the top straps straight up to get them tight. Then I pull them down over the front of my shoulders (looks like I have backpack straps), behind my back and back around to tie in the front. I can't seem to tie tightly enough under his bottom.

I'll try the front criss cross again with the straps. I tried it before and it didn't feel comfortable, but that was awhile ago.
