ds HATES sleep - always has, but usually collapses by 7:30 pm. if he naps for even 5 minutes, bedtime is pure hell and takes at least an hour or more. if he doesn't nap, he's an absolute maniac by 4 pm, sometimes much earlier. he rarely sleeps more than 10 hours and he just turned 3.
concerning behaviors: kicking (especially during diaper changes, but refuses potty 9/10 times), hitting (us/baby brother/friends), biting (us/baby brother), refusing to listen to anything you have to say that he doesn't want to hear (usually gets in your face and says "ssssshhhh" or points and sternly says "no"), acting like a lunatic the majority of the afternoon/evening - running around crazily, screaming at the top of his lungs, and laughing at everything you say and do. i.e., he bites you, you get sad/mad, he laughs. throwing food, spitting food, essentially wasting every.single.meal and then complaining of hunger in the middle of the night. very fickle - one minute, he wants to go with mommy to the store. as soon as we're in the car, he's kicking mommy's seat, screaming bloody murder for mommy to take him back home because he wants to stay with daddy. mommy takes him home to daddy and he suddenly wants to go with mommy again. saying "my tummy hurts" when he's in a situation he doesn't like - to the point that it's an obvious lie - he says it when we're having a playful tickling match and he'll say it when he knows that he's done something he shouldn't have and someone is talking about it with him. saying "______ (mommy/daddy/grandma) lets me do it" when he's trying to get his way - and it's a lie at least 50% of the time.
this is not *new* per se, but it hasn't always been this bad. he's never been a good sleeper. he is still nursing once a day usually (to go to sleep), we are vegetarian. he eats soy including soymilk, but sometimes also has cow's milk. he eats dairy such as cheese/yogurt. candy is a rarity and we don't do sugary/colory cereals and the like. over in gentle discipline, it was suggested i come here b/c it sounded like food allergies. a few people also mentioned the feingold diet. any suggestions? does this sound like it could be allergies? please help!
