my breastpump

Sadly, I need another bc I dont know what this stuff is!!

I was ordering (or trying to) order new parts last night and I got stumpted on the tubing, so I pulled out the pump, opened it to find this weird white residue on it, in the bag, basicly all over. I'm not sure what it is. First I thought it was battery acid, its a white hard flakey, but now I'm thinking maybe mold/mildew? I cleaned it all out before storing it, but what could this be?? It was stored in my sons closet (kind of a colder closet in the winter, warmer in the summer) and then in the attic (carpeted walk up could make a nice bedroom...not a dark attic) since last january.

Ugh, granted it is older, but is a nice medela pis advanced. I need something good...but, sigh, this one was perfect.

what could this be??

Could it be dried milk? My DH found a year-old dirty Medela pump bottle behind the bed :and that's what it loked like--white cakey stuff. Gross I know but could that be it?
