Should I say anything?

My best friend and her husband live on the other side of the country. She just gave birth to a baby boy about 2 months ago. For some reason, we all thought she'd be having a girl.

She ended up having an emergency c-section due to fetal distress and was in the hospital for 4 days. We hadn't discussed circumcision before the birth, although I'm pretty certain she knows where I stand (I know she reads my blog and I've been pretty vocal about it there). Since the birth, neither of us have mentioned it. I think she probably did, because I'm fairly sure her husband is and he's not the kind of guy who would be open-minded about something like that. I'm sad for her son.

Here's the question-- should I bring it up? I'm curious, but suspect I'm not going to like the answer. Not just because I think they circ'd, but because I know I won't have any respect for the 'reasons' that they did.

What would you do?

I wouldnt bring it up honestly because since she knows were you stand and hasnt mentioned it then odds are in favor of him being circed

I know what it is like to want to know. My cousin is having a boy as far as I know and I gave her info and talked to her about it but I am not going to ask if she has it done or not since I know that if she did then I will no longer care to be around her. So if I dont know then that wont be a issue.

Perhaps you could say:

You know I am dedicated to ending circumcision so whenever a friend or relative has a boy, I'm curious about his status. I want to celebrate his intactness or allow myself to get used to the idea that he is cut and come to terms with my own disappointment. Either way, I may be able to help you with information on how to care for your son's penis. Please let me know what you decided to do so that I can stop wondering and get on with enjoying this new boy in my life.
