wren has been such an incredibly easygoing baby but goshdarnit the dry heat in our bedroom at night is really starting to get to her. she is SO stuffy and even using the snot sucky guy and saline spray doesn't help for very long, which can get in the way of feeding (she gets sort of gassy and then spits up because she can't breathe through her nose well). luckily the problem is mostly at night -- and she still manages to sleep for hours at a time. but two nights in a row she's had a witching hour right after she gets up to feed (she usually feeds at around 11, 3, and then 7 so we are having pretty nice nights) where she's so stuffy while she's feeding and gassy after she's feeding, and can't get settled, which sucks.

we just ordered a humidifier and it can't get here soon enough. a pot of water on the radiator is doing NOTHING for some reason. i feel so bad for my babe!

we tried steam, too, but it didn't do much. any other recommendations?

I've been told that around 2-3 weeks babies go through a stage where they are clearing more amniotic fluid out of the deeper parts of their lungs... they get stuffy or have a runny nose--with mine I thought it was a cold. I'm not sure there is anything to do besides wait, the humidifier is probably a good idea though!

You may also investigate allergies from your foods causing the stuffy/gassy thing. I don't think you eat dairy, but if you do, that could be it. Good luck!!

Ok I was wondering about this as well. My baby and I where also having a cough at night but I got the hymidifier and as long as it is on, no cough or issues breathing. It is amazing! I also added a few drops of eucaliptus (sp?) oil to it last night.

(((((hugs))))) Poor baby.
