It's quite normal. My kids never did it, but I've had so many children in my preschool classes who renamed themselve. Last year, I had a three year old in my class who insisted we call him "Derek Jeter".

I am Baby, my DS is Daddy and my DH is Mommy. My DS also talks to me when he is Daddy like we talk to him, "You only are going to Gma/Gpa's for a little while and then we'll pick you up..."

My kids do this to me all the time.
Sometimes I go with it- its fun pretend play- but on those days when I just don't feel like being Curious George (or Jojo,Dora, etc) then I tell them that Mommy wants to just be Mommy today. Since, in our house, we get to name ourselves for pretend play, they usually accept this after the fourth or fifth time I tell them. With a few grumbles...

I KNEW I was preggers when DD insisted I called her Max (from max and Ruby) and I burt out crying because I was soo convinced it was because she hated her name : Yea raging hormones made me think real rational
