Rookie question on the LTK pattern

Thread Starter
I've just learned to knit and am doing the LTK soaker pattern as we speak. What I don't understand is if K2, P2 ribbing for X rounds means K2 rows, P2 rows or acutally alternating the K2 & P2 in the same row. I assume this is the waist area (first part of the pattern) and if that's the case, I assume it's alternating K&P on the same row.

Would someone clarify this for me, please?

It means the same row

you do two knit stitches and then two purl stitches, this gives you the ribbing.

And something I didn't get...

which may sound silly, but thought I'd share just in case, is because you are knitting on the round, you just keep k2 p2 the whole time. Because I'm used to knitting with 2 needles, I wasn't sure if I needed to start the next round as a pearl, but you don't, because you're not doing wrong side, right side yet. HTH and not confuses.
