well the title says it all.... I've tried everything else to increase my supply and I really need some serious help. I read you should be careful taking it if you have a heart condition, but what about if baby does? should I try reglan first?

What specific condition does your "heart baby" have? I see he was born in April, so he is 7 months old? Do you have a tendency to anxiety or depression? Reglan CAN make those worse.

I would try to email Jack Newman, or have your doctor, midwife, nurse practicioner or lactation consultant try to ask Dr. Thomas Hale on his web site. Or, you can take the info from Dr. Hale's book on domperidone to you baby's pediatrician or heart doctor, and see what s/he says.

If you need the original articles that Dr. Hale's domperidone recommendation is based on, PM me and I can try to dig them up from my medical library.

to you and all your efforts!

she has hypoplastic left heart syndrome (left side of her heart didn't develop) and wolff parkinson white syndrome (funky rhythms). I do have a tendency for depression, but I'm thinking it would be better to put me at risk than her, maybe? Unless of course the domperidone wouldn't cross over the milk enough to put her at risk.

Can a lactation consultant write perscriptions???? I asked her cardiologist (because she's the one who wrote me the script for the breast pump) and she said I'd have to go through the PCP. So I got a message from him yesterday and his message said he wanted to talk about trying the GI doctors suggestion, which is to give her formula. I'm ready to ditch all our doctors for some holistic ones, but with her truck load of medical problems that probably wouldn't be a good idea.

I haven't heard of Jack Newman or Dr. Thomas Hale... hmm... off to google them!

Sorry, should have provided some links. Dr. Jack Newman is a Canadian pediatrician bfing guru:

Thomas Hale wrote "Medications and Mother's Milk", THE bible about medications while bfing:

You need to be an LC or nurse or doctor to post questions on his web site.
