And It come out all WRONG? I need some help here so i hope someone can do something
I just used Henna yesterday, it felt so good to use it since its so natural, i've always felt bad using the dye's in the store cuz i know whats in them, but anywho, i rinsed it out and i came up with some really, really, shiney, rusty, orange color, its horrible, i can't go anywhere like this, my dh laughed when he saw it so did my dd.
So i guess my question is Is There ANYTHING I Can Do? Wash my hair a million times? I've heard dawn dishwashing liquid will strip color? I did send for another pack of Henna but it wont be here for about a week IS there ANYTHING that i can do besides just wait or color with synthetic color?
PLEASE HELP IF YA CAN! TIA
--------------------------------------------------------

Y'all know how frustrated i was about this whole henna disaster thing, so here's what i did, I decided to look in my cupboards for anything that would stain skin and what did i find?,,,,,,,,Black tea!! I brewed a bunch really thick and put it in my hair, wrapped my head in plastic and a towel then left it on all day, i just rinsed it out and it has toned it down ALOT,,,YAY!! i'm sure its just temporary but at least i can deal with it for now, Thanks for all the support and advice I know this isn't something world changing or nothing but i'm happy now
Also i just thought those of you thats had henna disasters would like to know just incase

Oh dear.... I'm so sorry. I don't think you can use a synthetic dye after henna, I think it can have a reaction and burn all your hair off (I may be wrong but I would hold off until you know LOL)

Perhaps you can try another vegetable dye in the meantime. I would try manic -panic, it shouldn't interfere with henna -- I know manic panic is known for crazy colors, but you can mix colors to get *regular* colors like brown if you don't want an out there color... probably on their website are guides to mixing. It is a temporary, vegan, vegetable dye that shouldn't have a freak out reaction to henna.

Good luck I hope others will chime in

Do you have a Sally's Beauty Supply nearby? If so go in and ask one of the women. I have used a product from there that strips color and conditions. It is made by Aphogee. It really stinks but it did the trick without leaving my hair all dry and brittle. I hope that helps a little. Good luck. Oh, and if it all else fails it may be time to rock some hats or scarves.

No sally's anywhere here:
I've already been doing the hats and scarves and anything else that will cover this mess

HOLD IT!!

I am a stylist....do not add anything to your hair! Just use a strong shampoo
some prell maybe , leave it in your hair a few min. each time. DO NOT put anymore color in for a while... ok?

Ok
Does that include more henna in about a week?

I know someone who had very light blonde hair that did the same thing....she dyed her hair with henna and did not do a strand test to see how it would look. Well, her hair was orange. : (always do a strand test!).

In her case she wound up contacting her aunt, who was a hairdresser. She got some sort of non-bleach color stripper. Did a few treatments over a few months. If she hadn't had someone in the family, her aunt told her it would have cost over $500 to get that done in a salon.

Henna generally is considered permanent. I have heard in some cases of people dying over the henna. I did henna when I was younger, however my hair is very dark brown and it sort of just gave me a slightly red-more auburn look.

First, if your hair is previously (chemically) dyed, there is a possible of a reaction between the Henna and the synthetic dye ... for example hair turning GREEN. But you don't have green ... so be happy!

Next, when you do henna, it takes about 3 days for the color to "develop". This is a reaction between the henna and oxygen in the air. The first time I did Henna, my hair started out a little orange and felt wiry for a few days. That went away and the wireyness has not repeated for subsequent uses. My hair is very fine and also graying ... I use henna both to hide the gray and as a conditioner.

Give it a few days and see if you still hate it!

Henna does no damage to your hair at all, so you can put more henna on whenever you want, but it might make the colour crazier so I dont know if I would do that. It is permanent. I found that when I used chemical dye over henna the dye just fell out of my hair, literally within a week. It can also have crazy colour reactions so I wouldn't recommend it, especially not over fresh henna.

It is very true that the colour calms down in a few days. Good luck!

I can't tell you how many horror stories I have heard about this stuff. Do you have light hair??My grandmother tried some in the 70's and she had light blonde hair....needless to say it was a disaster! :

Seriously though, In my local HFS they sell safer more natural hair dyes, in just about every color.

If it were me, I would just dye over it, then tell your granddaughter in 20 years what a mistake it was.

Many many

I hope you figure this out. I've actually had a bad reaction to dye once and the brown turned GREEN on my hair. I've BTDT. It sucks.

Give the color a few days to settle.

What brand did you use? What did you use in your mix?

What color were you expecting? Henna is deposit-only. And while it's permanent, I've found that swimming in treated pools will strip it out/off over the course of a few weeks.

First off: what kind of henna did you use? What brand?
And what was your exact process in using it on your hair (what were the directions?) If you let me know I can perhaps help you troubleshoot. The answer to those two questions will REALLY make a difference in how you deal with this.

In the future NEVER use henna designed for hair out of a box at the store. Chances are it is not pure henna, no matter what the ingredients say. The henna in those things is often processed with metallic salts and can produce bad results, especially if you have colored before or want to do so again. In the future only use body art quality (aka: mehendi) henna. It is very pure powdered henna, will give you infinitely better results, and is much easier to wash out out of your hair (the leaves, not the color). If you combine it with alma and indigo you can achieve many different and lovely shades.
Do check out the hennaforhair.com site: they truly know what they are talking about.

I'm finally growing out my henna disaster. I thought I did everything right. Poured over the henna for hair site for days, did a strand test, bought the best baq henna and... it still looked like butt. At first, I waited a few days for the color to deepen. When it didn't settle down I did many rounds of wahing with lemon juice, brown tea, mineral oil wraps, and even Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo after the mineral oil. Not only was the color bad but I had full on dog stink issues for almost 2 months even after washing every day. (and I usually go 3-4 days between washing) It made my hair so THICK I couldn't even style it. I'm a natural red head and wanted to vamp up my color a bit not look like Strawberry Shortcake on acid.

Time will help but if you really can't stand it, rest assured that many of us think short spiky hair on women is hot.

("What kind/Brand?")-It was "Henna, Lawsonia Inermis"
("What color was i expecting?")- I guess i was expecting some kind of brown with a "tint" of red
("What was my process?")- I soaked it for 12hrs in lemon juice as per directions, then i put it in my hair and wrapped it for 4hrs, the directions called for 1 to 6 hrs then rinsed it out, then went directly to the mirror to see how beautiful it turned out,,,,,,,YIKES,,,,,,Scream,,,,,showed dh, he laughed, showed dd, she laughed, put it in a poney tail and a hat then made an agreement with myself to stay home till i can do something with it
