I have been horribly ill with some sort of stomach thing since three this morning and I have resorted to Tylenol twice now because my stomach is in pain... I also can't have broth because I threw that up from dinner last night... just not appealing you know?
What would you eat?... so far I have had 2 peices of dry toast and a banana... I think I am hungry but I dont want to be sick all night...

hmn...brothy things (esp. chicken and rice soup) are usually my standby, but I understand your reluctance!

Maybe some EmergenC, herbal tea, lots of water.....

toast is good - you could try the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast)

mashed potatoes
v-8 juice with lemon juice squeezed in (extra C)
plain noodles with butter
orange slices
sometimes scrambled eggs are great, sometimes not appealing at all!
ditto Annie's mac and cheese

not the most well rounded and healthy things, but at this point just getting some calories would probably be good.

: Hope you feel better fast!!!

HOLY COW I just realized this was in the TF forum and not just Nutrition so please all forgive me for my answers : These are things I eat when I can't stomach anything else!

My staple is broth, but I can totally understand why that wouldn't work for you right now you poor thing. I will also do buttered toast, bananas and apple sauce it's usually the applesauce that helps out a lot and gets my stomach in a position to take on other food.

Thanks so much!

Broth is my first choice. I add chamomile tea because it is soothing to the stomach. Aloe juice is also calming to the stomach. If your stomach can handle these then I would move on to small amounts of bland foods.

It sounds like hydration is probably the key for you right now. Cinammon is very warming to a cold, empty stomach. You can steep 1/2 tsp in hot water and add honey to taste; this is also good with 1 tsp slippery elm bark (powder or chipped). A warm compress applied on top of your stomach may also help. If even that is too much, I'd really push sucking on ice chips and taking small sips of tea or water frequently to begin to rehydrate your body.

If you're ready to move onto food, what do you think about cooking some rice (I always use white if we're getting over something) in bone broth and adding a little sea salt and oil or butter to it. It's pretty starchy (which I always think is helpful in the event of the runs) but also nutritious with the broth and oil/butter.

a few other things came to mind....

fruit smoothies (you could throw in some greens)
miso broth (might be more appealing that bone broth?)
coconut water ?

I would never force something on a sick person. Eat what appeals to you - listen to your gut. (Oh, that's a bad pun, isn't it...)

And if nothing appeals, don't force yourself. Small amounts of water or herbal tea to keep you hydrated but that'd probably be it.

Once the hunger returns though.. might want to tell people to stay out of your way.

I second the coconut water recommendation to help you rehydrate. Also, plain rice or buttered rice.
