X-posted in fertility Heavy bleeding

I posted this here because I'm hoping some of you who are knowledgable in well woman care can help me out.

I just to be clear I am NOT pregnant.

Yeah the title sums it up pretty well........ (TMI warnings)

For the last couple (maybe three) months I've had these unending heavy periods. Soaking a super tampon every two to three hours, tons of huge clots. I'd bleed like this for 3 weeks at a time, have maybe a week off and then BAM! It starts again like someone turned on a freaking water faucet and I'd just gush. (I did give a TMI warning ) Now for all the heavy bleeding I have no cramps at all (haven't had any since I gave birth)

I went to a gyno last week and got ran through a battery of tests, blood work to check thyroid function (I can't remember the tests names but there where I think 3 or 4 thyroid tests alone) A trans-vaginal Ultrasound to check for tumors, cysts, endo, etc...

All of the tests came back as fine/normal ranges. Which is great. The doc recommended the Nuvaring in the hopes that it might stop the bleeding, which thank god it has.

So in theory I should be happy right? Tests are normal, treatment stopped the bleeding. Huzzah.

BUT, while the doc is pleased by this outcome I'm still very concerned. This strikes me as HIGHLY DYSFUNCTIONAL menstrual cycles and I want to know what the hell is going on with my body. I've googled and read and searched but haven't really found anything that quite matches KWIM.

Do you wise Mamas have ANY insight on what could be going on with my body?

IT is very hard to know what to say without knowing a lot more about you, and your health-pregnancy-and-menstrual history.

Feel free to pm me, and we'll see if we can figure things out at all.

Just my tale of excesive bleeding woe and how I cured it:

I was 100 pounds overweight and eating an extremely high amount of soy on a daily basis. My ob wound up teling me, AFTER an unnecessary laproscopy to search for endo, that excess weight leads to excess estrogen production which would lead to excess bleeding. I flipped out at her n asked why she didn't just tell me to join a gym instead of scheduling me for surgery. :

I changed my diet filled it with fresh fruits n veggies, cut all processed foods, and lost the weight. I was already dairy and meat free, but I was still eating sooooo badly. Literally 3 weeks after I changed my diet and started exercising, the extreme bleeding, clots, etc disappeared. I've had light, normal, clockwork periods since without a hint of pms.

To manage the symptoms while I was trying to get myself together, I used Rosemary Gladstar's recipe for "Floodgates Tea." I made a tincture of it and the stuff worked almost immediately. It kept me sane during the transition to health, as did my Diva Cup.

Good Luck!

Interesting.

I am over weight, and have been meat free for years. I used to have tons of soy in my diet, but have cut almost all of it out over the past year.

I'll definantly look in to the Floodgates Tea.

Thanks for sharing your story.
