I have really bad migraines and they went away during pregnancy. They are back now 2 months post partum. 1.5 years ago, when I was nursing my son, I took Imitrex which does not work for me. The only triptan migraine drugs that worked for me were Amerge and Axert. I am wondering if there has been more info on these drugs since I nursed my son. (I also lost the link to Dr. Hale's forum so I couldn't check there.) If I don't get an answer, I will call the lactation consultant at my hospital. However, I think she will take a long time to get back to me because she is seriously overworked.

Amerge and Axert are both a Lactation L3. His book recommends Imitrex which you said didn't work for you, but it is also a Lactation L3.
Sorry you have migranes, I know they just suck!!!! I saw a chiro for my last migrane and he adjusted me and it went away in 3 hours and only got as bad as a headache, might that be an option???
HTH!

Between regular chiropractic adjustments, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding triggers, my migraines have almost disappeared.
On the rare occasion when I do need to take something, I take Imitrex. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you.

I use Imitrex for my migraines. chiro has never helped my migraines. Does Excedrin work for you? It does for me- I avoid regular Excedrin right now, though, because it has aspirin. so, I take Excedrin Tension Headache, which contains acetamenophin and caffeine, but no aspirin. It still works for me. However, if your LO is sensitive to caffeine passed via BM, then that's not an option. My DS is not, however I've noticed that I get anxious if I take it. I don't consume a lot of caffeine to begin with.
