Is anyone using Seventh Gen. disposables?

We decided to use disposable dipes for the first month or so. We have the newborn Seventh Gen ones (up to 10 lbs) and they are so weird. Mairaed is now 7 lb 3 oz and the diapers keep falling down her bum and leaking out the top, but at the same time they seem to be too small around. Like I really have to stretch the tape thingies to get them to close. It is making me nuts. Is it me? Is Mairaed's bum shaped weird? What is the meaning of this?

Hi Maisie,

I used them with Edgar before we started CD'ing him at about five months. They worked okay, but we had the poopsplosions and the saggy droopies too at times. I think it's inevitable. I don't think any other disposable will be better, maybe a size up taped tightly might help?

Sometimes I feel like all I do all day is deal with poop. :

nak

i think they are shaped weirdly. i used them w ds1 and had leaks all the time.
i do sposies and cd's right now and haven't had much trouble fitwise with any sposies, haven't used 7th gen with niklas yet tho. so i don't know if ds1 had the same weird shaped butt like your babe or if it's really the dipes

After we gave up on cloth with Dylan ( we went to 7th Gen, but we had a lot of leaking with them, too. I really like the idea of using 7th Gen, but the reality was (for us) that they didn't contains waste very well.

i don't likevthem for above reasons.. huggies have always fit my boys well but i hear many moms of girls like pampers better.. luvs suck, bru store brand are not too bad but don't hols as much pee.. interestingly the huggies supreme overnites are worse than their cheaper reg ones ?? but really any and all dipes will leak sometimes... we stick with huggies reg use coupons and look for sales...

I bought some to have for emergencies (like when I hadn't done the CD laundry) and have used them a few times and so far, so good. Of course, DS is not nearly the pooper that DD was (she was Miss Projectile Poop 2006 and continues to be to this day).

I do find that the tabs aren't quite long enough, both with the size 1s, which DS is using on occasion and the size 4s, which DD is using more often than not because using sposies is the only thing that I've found clears up the constant diaper rash she's had since she was born

So I don't think Mairaed is shaped weird - perhaps just the dipes. Never tried other sposies though so I have nothing to compare them to.

They didn't fit our girl, either... had horrible leakage. They just didn't fit close enough to her body so it was like she was wearing nothing.

We are having leakage issues with our CDs, too, so we are using Pampers for night time until she gets a little bigger.

We did get some of the Target newborn ones today and so far, so good. They contained a GIGANTIC poop- I mean, her arse totally exploded- and they held up better than the seventh generation ones. And they were half the price.

One reason we didn't go right to cloth is because I stupidly didn't get any newborn covers. I thought she would immediately outgrow them. I may bite the bullet and get a couple and go to cloth soon.

I had that thought with Dylan -- bought into the conventional wisdom that babies spend MAYBE a week in 0-3 mo sizes and then skip right to 3-6. Dylan ran true to size for the first 18 months of his life... the earliest pictures of him feature a lot of rolled up sleeves.

We use sposies at night with ds1. Pampers smell funny, but they work, are soft as mch as one of those can be and contain the poo well.

ETA: I have some pampers and huggies if you want I can send you a few of each to try out? PM me since I can't be relied on to remember to check this thread again!

No experience with SG diapers but wanted to say, if you were holding off on cloth because of the laundry, I have been pleasantly surprised that it's not been hard at all.

I wash them about every day and a half because I don't have very many diaps. I do a quick wash/rinse (no soap) in cold to get rid of the majority of the poo then wash again with soap in hot water. Stick them in the dryer (except covers) and voila!
