All you mamas- thank you SO MUCH for your support!Elizabeth,
I so wish we lived closer, I could seriously use a RL buddy these days!
Julia- did you ask about pumping bras? Totally go for easyexpressions bras, but get them through babycenter.com. I originally ordered one through the manufacturer, but got my second one cheaper at babycenter.
They ROCK. Hardcore. In the morning, I can do the following all at once:
give Lucien prevacid.
When I'm at work, I take my pump stuff and some work (and sometimes my laptop) into an empty office (I'm a cubicle cog) and have at it. The day DH forgot to pack my bra, I FREAKED. I could barely do it, and I certainly couldn't double-pump.
for easy expressions pumping bras. Testimonial by Rachel, EPer for 5.5 months.
For everyone who offered such kind words about Lucien's heart murmur- thanks!! You guys are
! I do think it's impossible to allow myself to worry about more than one thing at once, like someone wise here suggested. I'll crack open my peds cardio textbook this weekend and listen to him closely- I honestly didn't like being a hospital nurse, but I was good at (and enjoyed) assessing kids, and I worked in one of the best pediatric cardiology units in the country. So I think it will help calm me if I take the time to listen- if it's truly just an innocent murmur, I'll recognize that and feel better about things.
Here's my update on Lucien- I apologize if I've already covered this in my earlier post, I'm kind losing my mind a little here, so I can't remember everything perfectly.
we got the bloodwork back- his anemia is getting worse, and he has a low-ish white blood cell count now. The immunoglobulin testing showed he has an IgG deficiency, which could
mean he has a genetic immunodeficiency (but could also be caused by prematurity). We don't have our follow-up appointment with the immunologist til January 7th, which blows.
My husband got a verbal offer for the job in CO (yay!) but for less money than we optimally need for me to be able to stay home with the baby (boo!). They also are not firm on giving us relocation money in advance; if they can't do that, he can't take the job, unless we beg for an advance from his family and pay them back when they give him the signing bonus (after 30 days).
I honestly think we can do it, though we'll have to scrimp some. I want to prove to him we can make it work. There are a lot of things we do that are just *so* expensive, not because we it's the only way, but it's just easier with both of us working (takeout, for example). Heck, we'll save around $1800 a month just by dropping daycare and the difference in rent. It can be done- I just need to plan and make the first few months work out.
and you guys are right- I totally need to bring him here to work. I won't be the *only* only person here, but I might be the only person on my floor. I just heard they normally let everyone go home by noon, but we have a doctor's appointment at 9:15 anyway. Couldn't get here til 10:30 or 11.
The good thing is I found a neat little natural toy store while we were at lunch today (one two kangaroo in arlington, as at least a couple of you are in this area) and got Lucien some wooden toys for Christmas. I'm excited- wooden teething rings actually look small enough to fit in his teeny little mouth!
