This little girl will not sleep...

during the day. She sleeps great at night- from about 11:00-3:00 and 3:30-7:30. But not a wink during the day so mama can do a load of laundry or pump some breastmilk... : or catch up on some sleep. For the first 2 weeks all she DID was sleep. Is anyone else going through this? The pediatrician said she should be sleeping whenever she eats, but lo and behold whenever I put her in her basinette she immediately wakes up and starts crying. She loves being held and it sure makes it hard to get anything done (not just housework but also essential tasks like eating lunch...)

See my thread "fussy, fussy" and you'll see that many of us are going through the same thing. Seemed to hit right around 2 weeks for all of us. The good news, is that after 4 days of Piper hardly sleeping during the day at all, she slept a good bit of today. We're had some super fussy periods today, but not as bad as the last 4 days. And I can't recommend the Amby enough! If I can finally get her to sleep, she will sleep in it for a 3 + hour period (I usually wake her after 3 hours during the day), since it lulls her back to sleep whenever she starts to wake. I usually get her in it for one good nap a day. The rest of the time, it's impossible to get her to sleep that well unless we're in the car.

Conrad wants to be held a lot too... Dylan was the same way. Conrad is actually a little easier, but that's partly why I broke out the sling today. I can get away with short periods of putting him in the bouncy seat or swing, or easing him off my lap onto the sofa (surrounded by a Boppy) for brief naps, but mostly... he's on me. I'm getting good at doing things with one hand...

Glad I'm not alone in this...This is just one of those things that will pass before we know it though...I hope.:

Yeah, after the first two weeks when Silas slept ALL THE TIME (causing me, of course, to worry), he woke up during the day and would only sleep in the sling and only then for short periods of time. Then, of course, I missed the daytime sleeping.

It's getting a bit better now, going on 3 1/2 weeks - he'll sleep for longer than he was last week, but still a lot less than the first two weeks. And he's willing to tolerate a wide variety of slings, I just have to find the one that suits his mood. Thank goodness I'm a bit of a sling fanatic so I've had him in ring slings and pouches, mei tais and the ERgo so far.

It does make doing laundry hard though. Folding a load of laundry with a child strapped to your body is actually quite the workout, never mind the two flights of stairs it takes for the laundry to get from the second floor to the basement and back up again.

yesss us too but dean's longest sleep stretch (and has to be being held upright or in moving car) is 1 1/2 hrs but usually only 1/2 hr 45 mins... he has reflux pretty badly, does your LO maybe, since she cries when pt down too.. don't know but can empathize.. hugs

The only way I can put James down to sleep is if I'm absolutely certain he is sound asleep first. After he eats, he has to sleep on me/boppy for a good stretch so he is completely out before I start to move him.

...eating my words now as he starts to fuss after I tried this... grr...

I got a Moby Wrap today and I am about to attempt to strap it on... so I can get some vacuuming done! Mairaed has been asleep for fifteen whole minutes so I am going to do some dishes right this second, before she wakes up from her slumber....

The Moby is a sure sleep mama! I am sorry! I cant imagine that....atleast you are getting ok rest at night. Will she sleep if you lay with her?

AND atleast she sleeps all night and not vice versa....that would be horrible!

HUGS!
