Fretting About My Nipples

I don't really have a lot to complain about (other than a HUGE hemorrhoid -- Gina, did your hemmy hit the road for my house??) -- Conrad is eating well and BFing is going well for the most part.

But my nipples hurt again! I have been treating for thrush for a week and had not been having any symptoms. Conrad still has white patches on his tongue, although they are thin and not raised. We are still treating for thrush through tomorrow. So I don't *think* we still have thrush...

I'm also getting worried about Conrad's latch. We had been doing pretty well, but either he or I or both of us are getting sloppy... and I'm worried that it's because I'm letting him use a paci. Having something to suck on is pretty important in his little world and I don't want to think about what the household mood will be like if it's pacifier free.

Dammit. I wish I knew why my nipples hurt so I knew which fret to pursue...

Just venting. Sigh.

i just got sheamas a paci today...so far, so good...

as for my nipples...the one is starting to hurt...little whitish/yellowish blisters forming. i remember this. must be from improper latch ons. ugh. will not be so trusting and make sure he's on there right. or i'm gonna be hurtin' for certain' even worse soon.

hope you find some relief...

My nips hurt too and I will treat them a bit for yeast but it may just be his latch. He doesn't open wide enough.

My hemi is still hanging around, literally. It's just lost weight recently. THANK GOODNESS.

I won't give in and get a pacifier yet because I am scared it will make his latch worse. It's bad enough already. So I am his paci and he's gaining weight quickly. 6oz in 14 days.

Yeah, I think it's his latch. He's not opening wide enough on his own. I'm trying to be super-vigilant now. I really don't want to institute a pacifier ban yet, though I'm going to try and wean him off of them a little bit. We'll give it a week of retraining and see where we are.

Okay, we're going on about 18 hours binky free around here. Whew! Militant latching going on, with some success. Conrad was up every 45 minutes last night, and I got sloppy and did side-lying, which ALWAYS results in my falling asleep and him turning into a tip nibbler. But I had to sacrifice the nips for the sake of my hemorrhoid, which was also not happy with all the sitting up.

I've got an appointment with the lactation consultants on Wed about thrush, and to get some more latch support.
