I need an accountability thread! Let's post our lists, and check them off as we finish.

Here's what I need to do:

*hem and iron A's dress
*embroider L's stocking
*make A's wool felt crown
*make ribbon wands for A & L
*make felt food for A & L
*make a recycled sweater diaper cover for L
*cover barrettes in wool felt for A
*make mitts for A out of leftover sweater
*wrapping all that and more!

Okay, that's it for now...if I get a reasonable amount of that done I'm sure I'll think up some more.

Mine is a little short but a bit of a challenge. I was going to make a doll for DD, but instead she wants to fix up this hand-me-down doll I've had since I was little (it was handmade, probably in the late 1970's). It needs a new outfit (or at least the bloomers mended, but I'd like to make it a new outfit), and she wants a basket for it, so I was thinking a basket cover to match the outfit. Also it needs a new eye, but all that'll take is some blackfelt and a little glue. It could probably use new hair, too (it's just got little bangs and a bonnet).

The challenge is that it's a rather oddly proportioned doll, and I have no idea how to figure out what sort of doll dress pattern would actually fit it.

~finish earflaps on hat for niece -- DONE (but don't like my finished product, so not really done)
~finish playfood for some friends
~crayon muffins DONE
~felted bowls DONE
~start a bunch of dishcloths and washcloths for friends *DONE*

~put tree up and make decorations -DONE

I think that's it.

boogiemonster -- are you doing the LTK crown? I am in red and yellow. I have never felted before and I didn't have fabulous luck felting the swatch. I don't know how it's going to turn out. Let me know how yours is.

I sewed it out of wool felt. It's red and yellow too! I can post pics later if I can clear some space on my memory card.

I have felted bags and mittens in the past, though. How did you felt your swatch? Maybe I can help you troubleshoot.

More felt food for DD.
Purses for sister and sil.- Found pattern and bought fabric for one.
Felted soap for sister/sil.
Handprint kitchen towels for MIL.

I am a rookie and hand making stuff, so I am feeling the crunch now, even though I have over two weeks.

-Finish Waldorf doll for friend (Finished except clothes, which I'll do after holidays)
-Start Waldorf doll for DD (Haven't even gathered the materials!)
-Make soakers from recycled sweaters (2 done)
-Make felt food (2 pieces done, SO many more to go!)
-Design and sew guitar strap embellishment for DH (This will have to wait till after holidays)
-Paint a canvas with DH to give to SIL (Haven't even unwrapped the canvas!)

I have no idea how I'm going to finish all this when my only work time is during DD's nap. :

I keep a to-do Christmas list on my blog. So far I've gotten 4 1/2 out of 14 things done. Eeek! :

I put the swatch through at least three times, and it still didn't completely felt. It just got really fuzzy, but the stitches were still showing. I finally decided I was wasting too much water and just decided to start making the crown.

I felted in on hot cycle, cold rinse, with a pair of jeans. I did use regular detergent, and then read somewhere that it's best to use dish detergent. Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...sounds like you did everything right to me. You used 100% wool? My only other suggestion would be to stop the washer before it gets to the rinse cycle and run it through the hot wash again immediately. Maybe that's what you did, though...

I love the idea of a handmade Christmas. I've been making most of my gifts since my broke university student days.

I'd love to find out more about the no-sew tutu. My DD would really dig something like that.

How did you do the bean bags? Are they little ones, or chair-sized? We want a bean bag for Noli to sit on, but I'm wary of buying one filled with Styrofoam.

Ok, I'm at 5 projects out of 14 down now. : I just finished a crocheted birdie set for ds2 last night (you can see it in my blog). I should be able to get another 2 out of the way by the end of the weekend - I hope!!
