I have a few questions:

How do they deal with peices on drugs?

Sexual nature?
Erika- no idea on the drugs/sex piece. I have seen articles on alternative lifestyles, not much on the way of drugs. I suppose provided either topic is handled well, it shouldn't be a problem

Yahoo group - I posted my first article for critique. I know we haven't really established any ground rules, but I just wanted to reassure that I am looking for blunt honesty. I value people who call a spade, a spade. So please tell me exactly what you are thinking. Don't say anything you don't mean. Don't feel the need to sugar coat your responses. I am looking to grow as a writer and I don't need any pats on the back (but if you wanna, I won't push your hand away either, )

I'll critique your article later today. I've got to head out for a doctor's app't and then to Walmart.

How much lag time is there when posting to the yahoo group? I posted a critque a few hours ago and it's still not showing up. It's been a long time since I've used yahoo groups. I knew there was a delay, but I don't remember it being this long.

I have some exciting news! I have my first front page feature at AC. It's over to the side bar now, but it's there. I answered a $1 C4C about Michael Vick, and now it's being featured. MY FIRST FRONT PAGE SHOWCASE FEATURE...WAHOO!!

TCB- I think Erika has is set that she has to approve each post before it goes up.

Kelly - Congrats, it will do wonders for your PV.

Wooo congrats Kelly - I'm reading the story now.

I have it like that so that we can keep them only one persons article at a time.

I have membership like that so we can be for MDC AC writers only!

It's up now!

It's not so much a drug peice I want to write, but an addiction to an OTC drug that I was made aware of, struggled with myself, and then helped someone get off of.

I want to make more people aware! Parents especially!!

hello - new here. I just started submitting work - what is Suite and c4c...? And can you really make $500/month submitting works??? I always write with the hopes of being paid some day, but I never submitted to anything other than my brothers company's blog (for free) and to some online mags (again, for free)...where do you write at (if I'm allowed to ask)

Erika - I understand why you are keeping the yahoo group that way. My post from yesterday still isn't showing though. The first post I made on whether or not we should keep it just AC or add Suite is there, but my critique of Jenny's article isn't there. Maybe it got lost in cyberspace?

I think your drug piece will be fine with AC. Honestly, that's the kind of thing that seems most likely to make showcase.

Welcome MommyHawk! How much you make is directly related to how much you submit. It would take a LOT of articles each month to make $500, but I think some people do it.

ETA - I forgot to answer your other question! Suite is another writing site that some of us write for. Suite101.com if you want to check it out. C4C stands for call for content which is a new thing that AC has started. You will notice it on the page that your messages are on. They have a list of articles they are looking for. I've never done one, but I think some of the other MDC mamas have.

So I have been toying with the idea of setting up a blog with the overall goal of advertising my work at Suite and AC, but I would also advertise other well-written parenting/mothering related pieces as well as WAHM businesses. Does anyone advertise their writing through blogging?

Also trying to come up with a title for the blog. Any suggestions? I am stuck on Mothers Supporting Moms, but it's kind of blah to me...

I have been writing for a while but very infrequently. I decided to start posting book reviews that I do for school and have been getting about $5 a piece for them! It is nic3 to get something for nothing.

Has anyone noticed that AC is adding typos to their articles that you didn't put there yourself? I type all mine in word then copy and paste and once they are published, I will see random words placed in some of my articles that I didn't put there. At first, I thought I was just making mistakes and missing them somehow, but now that I've seen a lot, I went back to the articles I have saved in my computer and those typos are not there! What the heck is up with that?

They are really BAD typos, too that make me look like a complete idiot of a writer. It's making me angry. Can I request a new CM? Is it my CM doing it or is AC's submission program just jacked up?

Hey mamas! I haven't had a lot of time to write these days, I'm trying to finish the Christmas presents I'm making first. I did write for the writing prompt that is stickied, but honestly, I'm too afraid to post it. I feel like you all are professional's compared to me, but on the other hand, I have to start somewhere, right??!!!
amber- I've had two articles that put in random characters like ?-% but nothing that changed the body of the text. I have seen AC re-write titles and screw that up though, but hasn't happened to me personally.

sydnee- I hope you don't feel threatened. I can't speak for the others, but I have only been writing like this for 2 months myself. I am far from being a professional Currently I am on this mission to learn about more about writing and expand my abilities.

I have a blog up that I started earlier this year to learn SEO but haven't used it in a while. I hadn't thought about using it to advertise my writing. Mothers Supporting Moms has a nice ring to it - would you buy your own domain or just put it up at blogger or another blogging site?

Smart idea - I put up a research paper I wrote and got $4 for it. Like you said nice to get something for nothing.

I haven't noticed this, I haven't looked back through my postings yet.

My offers are going up - I had one for $5.25 two days ago (the article was published today) and then today I received an offer for $5.69 for an article on surviving bedrest with a toddler. I need to keep this upward trend going hehe.

I already have a liveJournal blog that is private and I am familiar with how it works there, I have also toyed with blogspot. It would likely be one of those two sites.

Good job on the offers. Sounds like you are learning and improving! Keep up the good work.

Check in the forum there. I found a thread on it and it's something to do with using Microsoft Word.
