This is helping me keep track. Does it help other people to read an itemized list of what we got for what we spent, or is it not very interesting to you?

Yesterday I spent $25 for this week. I can't find the receipt, but I got organic fruit (bananas, a mango, oranges and tangerines), organic veggies (celery, carrots, tomatos, a bell pepper, an onion, potatos), two packets of tea biscuits (the biscuits were my indulgence for the week, but they were on sale for 70 cents each), 4 yogurts, 2 cans of organic garbanzo beans, 1 can of organic black beans, 1 big can of organic tomatos, frozen corn, frozen spinach, and a box of pasta. I think that was all.
Adding $25.11 for this week. I got bananas, pears, whole wheat bread, ciabattas, 6 yogurts, milk, juice, a box of whole wheat pasta, a box of cake mix and whipped cream for DH's birthday and canned pinneaple. We have enough veggies and legumes from last week.

We did spend an extra $10 this week on peanut butter and powdered sugar for thank-you cookies, more peanut butter for the preggo cravings, one more milk and buttermilk.

So, $60/$100 for this month We're getting WIC next week so that should really help meet our budget.

previous total $197.87

Then today I spent a total of 46.38 at the local store on food items. But most of that is not really a grocery expense but more entertainment as it is candy for a gingerbread house decorating party we are hosting tomorrow for my son and his friends. Of that $46.38, only $18.87 was food we will actually eat for meals/snacks. The $18.87 went to:

-Coffee
-1 gallon Milk
-fresh Pineapple
-Diet Coke (for rum and cokes for holiday guests)

The remaining $27.51 went to bulk candies and 6 pounds powdered sugar for royal icing mix. There are anywhere from 6-10 kiddos coming over to decorate houses tomorrow. Not sure what I was thinking when I sent those invitations---icing will be EVERYWHERE The gingerbread houses were obtained though my office and the cost is a charitable contribution so I am not listing that as a food expense.

If I count that all as groceries that puts me at $244.25/500 for the month total.

i feel so far behind. i spent: 67.13 at a local farm for pork and eggs; 45.56 at the co-op for cheese, crackers, spices and cream; 16.47 at costco; and 72.69 online for xylitol products.

current total = 581.40

i'm going to try to only buy eggs, salad and a pint of millk (to make pudding for x-mas) for the rest of the month.

I'm at:

Food: $274.69
Household: $19.80

Spent $79 today and managed to get everything we needed at Trader Joe's and our local health food store. This is because we have a lot of other stuff stockpiled right now.

Went to 2 stores today. Got

18 eggs
3 gallons milk
3 loaves bread
carrots
apples
oranges
bananas
tomatoes
avocados
onions
8 boxes of cereal
1 pound of cheddar cheese
ham
yogurt
About 10 pounds of chicken
frozen vegetables
4 boxes of crackers

And more that I can't remember.

New totals:
$361.13 Groceries
$182.50 Household
$543.63 Total So Far

I think I have enough food to stay under my $600 goal for the month -- but I doubt I will. That's 17 days without shopping and I don't think I'm that disciplined.

On second thought, maybe I will make it. Christmas Eve is a week from today and we're having DH's family's annual party here. That means I won't go shopping next weekend because I like to have the refrigerator empty when his family comes over. Everyone always brings a ton of food and we end up with lots of leftovers and random things we wouldn't normally buy.

But then there's still one more weekend after that, hmmm...

Well, I've gotten lazy. Luckily it didn't kill my grocery budget (though our fun budget was blown completely out of the water!). I did my shopping this week a week late. I bought a ton of convenience foods (frozen lasagna, chicken stir fry, beef stew) but still manage only to spend 92.75. So, I stayed below my $100 per week plan, but was up over twenty bucks from the previous two week. And besides one package of tp, I bought no household stuff this week.

I have to be more strict next month. It's hard now because of the holidays and the baby coming and, well, I've just felt super lazy and have a hard time getting the energy to make things from scratch.

Must get motivated!

Just sent my husband to the store to grab a ham for our Christmas party -- today is the last day of it being $1.49 a pound so I made him go out when he got home to avoid paying full price tomorrow. I also had a $5 off coupon for it that came in the mail. So, $22.59 on ham brings my new totals to:

$383.72 Groceries
$182.50 Household
$566.22 Total So Far

So much for my coupon savings.

Just found a receipt for $5.59 for convenience store junk food my husband bought earlier today.

Current grocery total is $456.31 for the month - budgeted $600 so we're right on target.

We already have the ham and acc. for the Christmas dinner purchased. We have to pick up some cheese and sausage for Christmas Eve appetizers, but otherwise it's just fruit and other perishables for the rest of the month.
