Socks, pens, and things he'll use for school.

When I was a teenager, my Godmother sent me an ornament each Christmas until i graduated form high school. Then when I was out on my own, I had a little collection of ornaments to decorate my tree with. I always loved that she did that. I plan to do that for my niece/nephew when they're teenagers.

That just made me think of what my grandma used to do for us. She got us coin collecting books and each year a coin to go in it. She does the ornament thing for my parents, but they are all white house ornaments. I'd pick a different theme, but my parents collection is so nice and they could probably decorate a whole tree with the white house.

Ugh, growing up boys are so hard to shop for!
I always give my ds's toiletries, stuff they wouldn't normally get, like stinky cologne and body spray. My 13 y/o ds is into hats, so I always put a funky fresh hat in there. None of them shave, they like to be hairy, so no razors/shaving accessories. In the past, some things I put in their stockings were a Swiss Army knife, a little flashlight for his key chain, cool hemp and beaded necklaces, my older ds I gave nice, manly hemp hair ties for his dreads and dreaddie jewelry, I've given bandanas, oooh, light switch covers with their favorite sports teams for their bedroom, glow in the dark stickers of planets and stars for their bedroom ceiling, new earrings (the two older boys have pierced ears) hmmmmmm, playing cards, dice, and every year they get Uno, they LOVE playing Uno. Last year I found the CUTEST "tin soldier" nutcrackers (like from the ballet) and put those in with a small bag of nuts. They like the chocolate oranges that you throw against the wall or bang on the floor to open. I've given them the pocket watches you wear on a chain (those were a big hit!) "Manly" nail grooming kits, sunglasses, wallets, belts, McDonald's gift certificates (I know, gross, but they like to go with their friends occassionally). What else....those wrist sweat bands, 13 y/o ds plays sports so he likes to have those, and the Rasta one liked to get red, green and gold ones. A holiday themed pair of boxers tied with a bow. Hematite rings.

If I think of anything else, I'll come back.

I buy stocking gifts for my twin sons (13) and my nephew (15). For the last few years, I've been getting each of them a puzzle - not a jigsaw, but stuff like this:

http://www.bitsandpieces.com/~Brainteasers.html

Since there are 3 of them, they provide hours of entertainment - for all of us!

The other thing they almost always get are calendars.

Mental Floss is a magazine with a lot of really fun stuff for curious minds. I have found it at Books a Million and also I think can order through Amazon. Sallie

I finally found a couple of things at LL Bean. I ordered some freeze dried ice cream and cinnamon flavored candy coal. That should be funny. I also ordered ds some slippers so he'll quit wearing mine.

I've heard those Uggs are warm. It's not that cold here in NC so I just got some fleece ones. I think I'm also going to get him an Axe gift set and a McDonald's gift certificate booklet (YUCK! ). One thing I always am afraid of is that I don't have enough to fill the stocking. Then at the last minute I end up buying way too much stuff.

This was by far my dd17's favorite Chanukkah gift this year.

I think if would be a perfect stocking stuffer.

More stuff that's going in ds's stocking this year:

A new wallet with a chain that looks really cool and has a Hot Topic gift card in it at the moment and hopefully will also include gift cards to Grocery Outlet and Winco's, $20 US Currency, and at least $5 Local Curency

A pentagram pendant (or a Cross or Star of David depending on your own religious beliefs or lack thereof)

one of those cool terry wristbands that says "Make Music Not War"

Activism buttons, stickers, and patches

Small sewing kit, more for mending and clothing maintenance than creation, although ds does sew and has designed his own clothes in the past

incense

New heaphones for his MP3 player

Now I'm starting to wish his stocking was bigger.
