Where to get those stretchy hats...

that they have at the hospital? Does anyone know? I stole 2 from the hospital but one of them is coming unravelled already. Mairaed's little head is too small for all her other hats and I checked every store around and nobody has anything small enough!

I attribute her small head to the fact that, when I was in labor, DH wrote on the dry erase board in my room "GO SMALL HEAD!"

Any help would be great. Poor girl- her little eyeballs are usually covered by her hat...

I know our babies r us sells preemie hats in a 2 pack for $4-5.....when the twins were born 8 weeks early, we just folded it over a little on the back side and put a little peice of medical tape on it to hold it.

Yeah, Conrad has this little yellow hat that is TOO BIG for him and makes him look like the Gorton's fisherman.

I suspect that the hospital hats are made from some kind of tubular bandage or body stocking, with one end tied off and the other end cuffed. Maybe try someplace that has medical supplies and scout around for bandagey type tubes?

Or wash a couple hats on hot and hope for the best...

Look online for homebirth supplies and see if you can order just the hats. We got a hat in the homebirth kit that fit like you need.

I seriously have about 2 dozen little hats. Not sure where they all came from (at least half were with outfits, and no...they NEVER get matched up.) Probably half of them fit Piper, the rest are too big. Really, if I wasn't so darn busy, I'd offer to send you a few for Mairaed, but I know I wouldn't actually get around to mailing them until she was too big for them.

Perhaps a stupid question... but why do they need the hats anyway? Unless you're going outside I mean.

Because my mother will take Mairaed away if she doesn't have a hat on at all times. Good point. I don't really know... I thought she was supposed to have a hat on. I am going to have to consult my good friend Dr Sears on this matter.... thanks everyone for the links and info!

And Scheelimama, I know what you mean about not getting to the post office. I have been trying for a week now to get there and it hasn't happened. *sigh*

I was going to come on this morning and tell you the same thing -- unless you're out or she's cold, don't bother with the hats! Enjoy her sweet scent and fuzzy head and toss the hats in a drawer.

Gina, I was checking out Lachlan the other day and I think mairaed may have the same hair as him! His head looks so soft and fuzzy and now that she has had a few shampoos, Mairaed's hair is getting thicker and fuzzier. I just hope she has my thick hair and not DH's thin, almost non-existant hair....

i'm kinda a baby hat freak too,,, esp with my winter guys.. also we keep our house really cold.. like 62 or 63 and he def needs a hat inside in my opinion... i think it depends on where you live and how cheap you are on heating bills!!

i am also a sock/bottie fanatic.. i'm weird..

We get cold snaps here too. Not as cold, sure, but for instance it's 30 degrees at night, 35 in the morning, ice on the windshield, etc. What it sounds like though is your inside is cold! I have been pumping the heat into the house lately. Dreading the bill...
