Aili does this too, LOVES it. However, dh thinks I'm just teaching her to spit. I try to tell him that she's trying to imitate, but doesn't have it figured out yet . . . you know, b/c she's a baby?! Dh doesn't quite get it :

We got Andrew's orders the other day, which I forgot to mention. He'll be going to BOLC2 (first part of officer training) in March, that is 6 weeks and we can't go with him for that. Makes me sad that Liam won't see him for over a month Then in May we all go to BOLC3 (last part of officer training) in Arizona and Andrew graduates from there on Liam's 1st birthday. Then we'll either move again to our duty station, or if we get lucky we'll stay in Arizona.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a spitter, he usually does this when he gets excited.

Jazzy - Great job on passing your final! Not pooping for a while is normal, we've had off and on discussions about this where babes have gone 3,4,5 days without going.

nikkihoi: So sorry to hear about your continuing problems with BFing. I know that must be super hard to deal with. Hang in there.

plaid leopard: In response to your question to someone about not changing diapers through the night--I haven't changed Georgia's diapers through the night since she was around 3 wks old. She never pooped during the night for some reason, so I just began to put her on a diaper with extra bulk and a fleece topper to keep her feeling dry. It's worked great! This was totally different from DS #2, however, because he pooped with EVERY feeding for at least the first 3 months.

katiejj334: Hate to hear about your DH having to be away from home for 6 wks. That sounds challenging. I hate it when DH has to work 'till bedtime! Sending you strength vibes to be able to deal with it.

Well, Georgia is well over 3 months now and is what I like to call "fat and sassy". She's becoming much more content, coos a lot, and is forming a routine all by herself. I have noticed in the past few weeks she's began to sleep later in the morning (around 7am), then naps for an hour or so around 10, then naps again around 12:30 -1pm for around 3+ hours (but wakes sometime during that period to nurse and goes right back to sleep), has a short catnap in the evening, then is down for bed around 8:30. I can totally work with that! She's still waking at least twice (probably more) during the night, but I'm barely waking since she's learned how to nurse in the side lying position. So, life is seeming to get smoothed out around here. I guess what my friend says is true: the first 3 mths are all about survival!

She took her first bottle today from my mom. I was excruciatingly nervous about it for some reason. She took it without issue. This is great because last week I got the news from my boss that I'm gonna have to sign up for a 12 hr shift (as an RN) at least once every 6 wks starting at the end of the year. That's not much but I was planning on waiting several months longer. Apparently, if I do that, I'll lose my retirement, have to re-enrol, blah, blah, blah. So, this way DH can feed her a bottle or 2 and then bring her to me for a feeding a few times as well.

Here's a couple of pics of her:

Bhawkins - Its more about Liam than me, I know around that time seperation anxiety starts to set it and I don't want him to be afraid of Andrew when he sees him again. Seperation is a big part of military life, we spent a month apart for the first part of his officer training in summer '06, and lots and lots of weekends. You kind of get used to it after a while I suppose, as one of my friend's describes it its "numbing". Since Liam was born we've already spent one weekend apart, and that was trying enough for me taking care of him by myself. I can't imagine 6 weeks. I have a feeling my mom will be keeping me company a lot.

Oh and can I just say you look freakin' fabulous in your pictures! Cute babe too

She's adorable! And that dress is super cute on her!

And I was going to reply to something else in your post, but deleted the rest of what you wrote and then promptly forgot what I was going to say. Darn that mommy brain! My short-term memory is shot these days!

Bhawkins-Georgia is adorable...love the dress.

Katie-sorry to hear about the 6 weeks...yeek. Glad to hear that your mom will help. Poor Andrew too....they change/grow so much from one week to the next I can't imagine 6 weeks.

Lucy and I are off to the store when she wakes up to buy all the baking necessities. I am the Christmas baker in the family. I will be going over to my mothers to bake....I just cannot imagine a day of baking without another pair of arms for Lucy. She is liking the sling but not sure how that works with the oven.

Wow, I see these threads and mean to reply, then lose track of time before they're pages and pages long! Lucy and I are doing well, she's 3 months today and we weighed her at 13 lbs this week. Definitely not the chunker we thought we were in for when she was born (9 lbs 13 oz)! We thought she'd be in 3-6 month clothes right away but she's only just now growing out of her 0-3 month stuff. She seems to be growing more in length though, she's right around 25". She loves talking and smiles all the time--she's a pretty laid back little muffin. She really has a temper though and knows exactly what she wants (she's a redhead, what can I say?).

Some days she sleeps for an hour or two in the morning and then the afternoon, but within the past week or two, she sometimes won't sleep more than 10 minutes at a time during the day and then gets pretty fussy in the afternoon and evening because she's exhausted and won't let herself sleep. Nights are sort of hit or miss...she'll do a few nights of sleeping 5 hours straight, then a few where she's waking up to nurse every 3 hours (that's the norm), then a few where she's up every hour and a half like clockwork. She's pretty reliable though and her chosen bedtime seems to be between 10 and 11 pm, and we usually get up around 8. She does take a pacifier sometimes but likes her fists better recently. The pacifier is really only when she wants to fall asleep but doesn't want to nurse. We're using it less and less, which makes me happy, but as I said, she knows what she wants! We held off for a while because I didn't really want to give her one but there are times when she really wants to suck but doesn't want milk coming out, it seems. My MIL (who I love) said her biggest baby was like that too and she just felt he was a more efficient eater so he filled up on nursing but hadn't satisfied his desire to suck. Seems about right to me--she nurses like a fiend when I first put her on but generally only goes for 10 or 15 minutes at a time.

My hair has been falling out like there's no tomorrow but it's really thick anyway, so it hasn't been too noticeable. It's funny, I sleep better now than I did while I was pregnant (or even before I got pregnancy) because I don't get up to pee constantly! Lucy and I went out for the first time by ourselves this past week to go visit with my aunt and her kids before a chiropractor appointment for me, which was really nice for us! We're going back for our annual cookie-baking on the 17th. Dh, Lucy and I went out to lunch yesterday with a good friend, our first "restaurant" experience with the baby, and it went much better than expected! Dh's birthday is Friday so we're planning to try another restaurant with my mom and brother next weekend.

Here's my new favorite picture of Lucy, hanging out with her best friend, Stitch. He was a gift from my boss (she and I both love Stitch, lol) and Lucy suddenly noticed him and just adores chatting with him.

And here's one from our attempted photo shoot, wearing a sweater my MIL made for her (I wanted to make sure we had pictures of her in it before she grows out of it, but as you can see, it's still pretty big on her so we'll get plenty of use out of it this winter!).

I haven't been posting a whole lot but I'm still reading to check up on everyone! I still can't believe it's been 3 months.

Ishy - Awww, I love the sweater and babylegs, she's a cutie pie! You just reminded me that I have to try Liam's WAHM babylegs on him...

Here are some pictures of Liam from last night when he woke up to nurse, we decided to get some of him on his three month "birthday"

Hi Mamas!

Thanks for the hugs and the support! I needed it!

The weekend has been a little better. I've back DS off the breast a bit and tried to pump most of the day for his feedings. I nurse him in the middle of the night, in the morning and before he goes to bed. He's been a bit better with the let down.
We have doc appointment for his weigh in on Thurs. I might wait to see an LC until after the weigh in if all goes well. Since I'm nursing him in the middle of the night, it should be interesting to see how much weight he's gained. Keep you fingers crossed.

I do need to call my local LLL and no, I haven't tried breast sheilds

The photos of the babes are great! Keep them coming. I haven't updated the blog lately but should have something new sometime this week.

Good Night and Thanks again.

Hi Mommas.
I'm gonna try again.

Linus is huge. Huge. I haven't weighed him lately but he has outgrown some 6-12 clothes and there is no 3-6 that fits. He nurses frequently, poops very rarely, and just grows. I love to watch him grin as he tries to do situps from a reclined position. He gets his head and shoulders up, groans, and goes back down. If he is like my other huge baby he will not locomote until well past 9 (10?) months and walking will be very late but he is working on learning to control his girth. He is fat, happy, and talkative. I love the little conversations with him.

Nikkihoi - LLL is great not just for the help but also the comraderie and the understanding. Take care of yourself too.

What cute baby pics have been posted! And the mommas.

As usual I am behind again. I have such a hard time getting on the computer on the weekends. I am going to go read and see if I can catch up because it is too early for me to do anything more productive.

i'm behind too.

my parents were here all weekend. they came to babysit the big kids while dh, jamison and i went to dh's christmas party. dinner was good, but the band was way too loud for the babe (and dh too ) so we left early.

we got a lot of work done organizing our storage unit so we can actually find stuff, and get to our piano so we can get it in our house soon. we brought quite a few boxes back with us so i have to go through those. we had been using jamison's room to store stuff until we get around to unpacking it, but now i need to clear that out because the il's will probably be here for christmas, and they'll sleep there.

it's crazy. i wasn't on here all weekend and besides having a lot of reading to catch up on, i got logged out and had to get a new password. and there's also a lot of new smilies (:::::
::::

::. that'll teach me to be gone all weekend. gonna go read now.

Nikkihoi!! I'm praying this gets easier for you. Know that we are here to support you! I agree that an LC may be able to give you some new advice that might help. If you were in AZ, I have the perfect one!

: Just saw this smiley and it made me laugh, so I had to post it. I feel like this all the time, not just around the holidays. The breastfeeding appetite is HUGE!

Plaid: DS2 doesn't poop at night, and we use a fuzzibun stuffed with a pre-fold and another insert. The fleece keeps his skin dry and no leaks most mornings! FB are my favorites!!

Katie: I think you'll be like an hour and a half away. The weather will probably still be nice when you get here, so maybe it will work to meet up! I'm sorry you'll be away from Andrew for six weeks, I can't imagine. My DH went to Brazil for two weeks this summer, and I was single parent to my DS who was 2.5 then and pregnant. It was horrible. I hope you'll have lots of help, and you'll always have MDC!

Erica: I post mostly from work, but if I remember to get online at night I will post a pic of David. He is really LONG, already too long for the baby carrier, so we're getting him a convertable carseat for Christmas. He's not really chunky, but just really big. He looks like he's six months old or something.

Also, b/c I post from work (I work for the county gov), I can never look at the pictures you guys post!! They picture sites are all blocked at work. I HAVE to get on at home at night to see all these gorgeous babes!!! I'll try to remember this week, but it's really hard for me to get computer time when I'm home b/c my time there is so limited I really try to be with DH, or the kids. I'll find a way.

What are you guys getting LOs for Christmas? Have we already talked about this? My mom sent me this WAY too big, WAY too old play yard thing. I'm annoyed; it's begun.

Awesome! My brother was in Arizona while he was in the air force and he said he really enjoyed it, he's been telling us all about it. If I remember correctly someone else from our DDC is also from AZ? I can't remember who though...

Christmas - We got Liam a lot of clothes since he's growing out of everything, shirts, socks, pants, and a pair of soft sole shoes (They look like turtles ) We got him two different kinds of massage oil and bath bubbles from California Baby, and he also got a Kathe Kruse rainbow baby teething doll and a wooden rattle/teether. I requested that family get him books and clothes.

I'm really annoyed today because we found out that the national guard is trying to screw Andrew. Basically they're making him go back to the national guard after he completes 3 years active duty, and then we'll have to move back to NY and he'll have to spend another 3 years in the national guard and try to find a civilian job. The plan is to try and get him an active duty slot so he doesn't have to do that but we'll see what happens I guess.
