December Declutter Thread!! - Page 3

I sent off 42 items that I swapped with other MDC moms, so my total is now 64 towards my goal of selling/swapping/donating/gifting 100 items this month.

Woot! The computer armoire has been cleaned out

We've made a bit of progress in the dressing room, which I'm sure will be done soon now that the computer desk is out of the way.

I have a box in the living room for the "50 items collection" and I'm seriously considering mamavegan's negative number plan.

The dining and coffee tables are all but clear. They should be done within the next day or two.

And lastly, I'm a visual gal, so I put together a flick'r album to help motivate me throughout the month.

Whew I'm getting so inspired by everyone's progress. You're awesome!

I thought I was joining really late, but looked and it's only the 6th!:

ILs are visiting in a week, dd's bday is in a week and a half, and then there's christmas.

My goals for the next week:
Actually clean up the downstairs, once and for all. Get rid of EVERYTHING we don't want anymore. Yes, moving it upstairs to the office counts but it can't come back down again, unless it's straight out the door!
And go ahead and buy organizers if they really will make things easier.

so... can I do things my own way? I'm going to post here and keep track of how much I get rid of and then tally it up at the end. Because seriously, with the pregnant nesting mode I've been in for the past month, I would opt to get rid of most everything we have... and we can't afford THAT

I'm so sick of crap. And we have so many hand me downs that I keep and use even though I can't stand them that I feel our life is filled with crap.

Anyway.

So far I have
-one huge plastic tote of kids clothes, a purse, a couple bags, a pair of old (small) snowboots and a laptop bag going to thrift.
-I decluttered the bookshelves last weekend and put 14 books up on ebay. Whatever doesn't sell I'll probably post ffs here or put on the yard sale pile in the basement.
-I have a fruit box full of magazines up on freecycle that will get recycled if the people who keep answering don't pick them up soon.
-Two boxes (about 40+) of mason jars are getting picked up tomorrow by a freecycler.

I've got to figure out what baby/infant things I'm keeping for this little sprout and get rid of the rest. Probably thrift or freecycle. Maybe reverse that order.
I have to (once more) go through ds' toys and get rid of excess. Put a couple things up on ebay and give the rest away. Maybe to the toy lending library.
And I've got a smallish entertainment center that needs to be freecycled.

How is everyone doing on this month?

I'm setting a goal of 2000 items.

So far I've gotten about 600 things gone!

I'm moving and I have to clear out as much crap as we can! I want to downsize from a twobedroom junky apartment to a clean, tidy, and organized one bedroom apartment for me and DP!
well I just found out that family IS coming after all for Christmas (whole nother story) so I am gonna bump my numbers up to 500. Gotta make the SIL look bad LOL! I know I am evil but hey motivation is good no matter how it comes right???!!!???

edited to change it AGAIN! From 200 to 500 since as soon as I got off I did 120 items! WOOHOO! Feels great!

Well, shoot. Once again I didn't make my goal for the month. I think I'm over-estimating how much time I'll have to work on decluttering.

I had 116 items left from last month. I'm going to round that up and be in for 120 for December. I think that's ambitious for the weeks leading up to Xmas. But, and this is a big but, I really hope I can do it!

Got 17 more miscellaneous items from around the house to give away/thrift.
I also sold our faux electric fireplace on craigslist (it was in the basement), listed an office machine on ebay (also in the basement) and put a glass stove top range my mom gave me to sell up on craigslist too (was also in the basement.
So that's 20 items since I last posted, some small, some big. All good to get rid of

63 items in 2 bags to be donated
17 items trashed
1 nursing bra sold
-2 (1 cardigan & 1 pair of pants for the babe)
---------------------------------------------------------------

79 items today
+ 50 items for the month so far
-------------
109 items!

I look close to the 150 goal, but let's not forget the things coming in for the holidays. I must keep decluttering!

Somehow my helper managed to get these on his butt:

And, boy did he have a delivery out of that end later...

I drove around for an hour today with 3 bags of donations in my trunk and the 2 spots that I usually donate to were gone!

I decluttered 11 things out of the kitchen this evening.

New total: 120!

On a whim, just cleared an additional 21 items from my master bathroom.

New total: 141 (goal was 150)

STILL working thru the Master bedroom challenge but i'll put it here

2 cloth shopping bags of ps2 games & dvds OUT of my room and INTO their proper home behind the doors of the entertainment unit.

1 box of 'crap' sorted thru, some trashed, some in a donate box

1 entire Tupperware 'kit' (I'm a now former dealer ) unpacked & sorted into 'keep to use', and 'gift' piles... SIL is gonna LOVE me this holiday season (this was all in the linen cupboard)

1 'briefcase' and file unit of tupperware paperwork/catalogs etc going in the recycle bin.

More off season clothes put in a box, will be a few spaces bags this week and squish em down and slip under our bed.

You can now walk all the way around our bed and see baseboards (except where there is furniture) AND I can open the craft end of my three door wardrobe!

I cleaned out DD's misc toy basket again and managed to recycle a small pile of papers. She is such a mini-hoarder (as most toddlers are, I assume)

Anyway, I'm only counting it as 1 item. I plan to freecycle some more holiday stuff this week. Oh, and curtain rods. How did I get so many extra curtain rods??
1st - ? Can I count the hand-me-downs from my mother that I don't want and didn't take - but in the past would have taken out of guilt and stuck in the closet? If so I can count 3 :=)

Next - I've decluttered 1 pile of dc beautiful artwork & 1 bag (approx 20) trinket toys from treasure boxes from the Dr/dentist office/school etc.

So I'm at 4/100 (?)

Me again

Dumped a bunch of stuff from our front hall cabinet and kitchen. I'm calling it 20 because I forgot to count

11 items returned to various stores (yikes); 2 toys donated to Toys for Tots. New total: 77/100.
