Help - My Baby Doesn't Like Her Sling!

Hello!

I have two children, a DD 3.5 months and a DS 2.5 years. My DS LOVED the sling... he rode in it almost constantly until he was almost 2 years old (and now still likes us to occasionally carry him around in it). It really stopped when I got so HUGE with my little girl and I couldn't get the sling around both my body and his. LOL

My DD, on the other hand, absolutely HATES it! She screams and cries and stops immediately when we take her out of it. She does, however, like the infantino (the "front loader" as I like to call it) but my problem with that is she often goes to sleep while in it and then her poor head is just hanging down and bobbing all over the place.

Any suggestions? I personally like the sling better because I can nurse her discreetly and it is a lot easier to get her in and out of. I can't do that if she doesn't like it. Should I just put it away for a few weeks and try again? If so, what would you suggest about her head bobbing when sleeping?

TIA - I appreciate any and all input!

Are you putting her in an walking immediately? What position are you using? If its that she really likes having her legs free and some babies do you could use a sling like this http://www.nandu.hu/English/Practical/babycarrier.htm
there are several slings that work like this and you could easily make one as well. That way her legs are free but if she falls asleep you just tuck her head in one of the crosses of fabric and she can sleep comfortably.

That's a great link! I wish I'd tried the front carrying version when dd was smaller. She hated the sling, too, but loved the "front loader." Then she reached a point where she really didn't want to be in that either. I would try the sling every now and then. Sometimes she likes it and other times she wants to be moving around on her own. She's always been very active. So, I think you should just keep trying. Nothing is ever constant with these little babes!

At that age, my dd hated the sling (maya wrap) too - she hated lying down or having her body scunched up (she loves riding in it on my hip now). I invested in the baby bjorn when she was real little and absolutely loved it. It is the easiest front loader I came across (I tried 4) and when facing in, she could rest her head on my upper chest when she fell asleep. If she was facing out and started to fall asleep, I could easily lift her out and put her in-facing without disturbing her too much since it was so simple to do with the bjorn.

Thanks everyone

I think I will try the other wrap - but the feeling I am getting is that children certainly have their own interests... even at this young age!

She has always liked to face out - from the 2nd day of birth and she actually opened her eyes for awhile! I have a feeling I have a very curious little girl on my hands.
