December Dingos ~ Running Through the Holidays! - Page 3

Quiet here this morning. OT: I currently have a bee in my bonnet about taking the family to Thailand for a couple of weeks in the summer for me to study Thai Massage. Crazy?? I guess the obvious thing would be to study it here, but that isn't quite the same. I have been thinking of Thai for some time now, so it isn't completely out of the blue. Hmmm, pondering ideas of how to sell this to DH....

I have some gym time scheduled this week that I am really looking forward to.

DrJen, I was thinking of you while DD and I were at the zoo the other day. We missed you guys, and then we saw the baby polar bear cub nursing (until his mama got tired of it and cuffed him) and we really wished you'd been there. It was a last minute thing so I didn't phone/email, but maybe we could do some of the zoo lights or something together?

Eks, congrats on your BOY!

RM, a big belated to you.

Hello to everyone else.

Hey, been thinking a lot about you!!!!!! HI!!!!

I'm just jumping in here to sub, but I DID run yesterday. Two miles and had some pain. Calling the sports doc today, as I NEED to get my mileage up for training next month.

LOTS to do today, loads of calls to make.

Oh, gotta tell you this, it's and I also feel for poor dh. He walked upstairs to take a shower this morning and slipped and fell hard, on........................vomit! ACK!! The clothes he was going to wear today and everything. yuck!

Everything closes down for 5" if it is still snowing? Wow.. School was only cancelled ONCE in my entire time of being in school here, and that is when we had about 2 feet and it was still falling hard. (Jan of 1993) We just don't close for snow. Aurora & Vegancupcake, is it the same down in the valley?

And you're welcome... and wealth and abundance is seriously coming to you now. It is flooding your life. There is no limit to the amount you receive, because there is more than enough for everyone. And I just want to tell you, thanks again for the b-day sock yarn.. I'm ITCHING to cast on for some bright and colorful socks after making plain white ones for my mom. I'd rather knit in plain black than plain white!

Ran 3 last night while watching Bridge to Tarabitha.. loving the movie so far. I also lifted weights for back. DH says I'm doing too many back exercises and only body builders do that many... but I'm getting killer lats.

if it was just 5" things wouldn't normally close down. but as it's expected to dump all day long there's no guarantee that the buses will be able to get around. what i don't get, school gets closed because the buses have issues getting around. fine. but what is with every daycare and preschool closing down? they don't have buses. companies don't shut down for a normal storm like this. daycare and preschools should still be open because the workers should be expected to get there, just like I'm expected to get into work.

and it's still snowing hard

eww yuk. yeah it is heating up cold coffee but i heard that it is rich and gets rid of a lot of the acids, which upsets dh's stomach but not mine. i am definitely a brewed fresh every morning kinda gal so maybe i'll pass on that

mommabelle - my son is 7 but boys and girls react differently so we haven't experienced that so much [yet]

headed out for a chilly but sunny run in a few!

jaygee~Is your tv back on now that it's December? I'm curious how your tv-free month went.

Wanted to report a 3.5 mile run today! I wasn't even going to go but somehow ended on the pavement with my running shoes on. I reversed my route and it was a good change of pace.

MonikitaUT I am also working of creating an abundance mentality, especially where my work is concerned. It has been helping me cope with changes and see them in a more positive light. I didn't realize how negative I was until I started challenging my thoughts.

subbing from the land of the stomach virus. any affirmations for getting well? I have been sick for like two weeks straight with these two different things.

I'd love to see snow again!

Fraid so. I didn't actually make it through November either :. The only way to be totally TV free is to.... get rid of the TV! And DH is way too much of an NFL freak to even consider such an action. The kids are way down in their viewing though, which is good.

MB, I hope your family is feeling better soon. My entire family was down with either vomitting or diarrhea (or both, simultaneously) for over 2 weeks last month. It sucked, bad.

I ran 2 miles on the TM today and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Tomorrow is my follow-up with the ortho. I don't think he'll be happy that I'm running again, but if I have no pain, I don't see why I should stop.

Off to bake another batch of cookies to bring to my Moms. Today it's oatmeal chocolate chip!

it's been dumping snow for at least 24 hours. click on my photo link below to see our snowman under "december."

re NYQUIL

coffee toddy - i like it. i think it's very cool. needs no electricity. just add some boiling hot h2o in the morning. the flavor took me a while to get used to as well. maybe missing the bitter flavor?

sorry so short, gotta go.

just back from my 3 miles....i had a friendly pit bull come racing after me from behind, scaring the bejeebus out of me... because i had my headphones on. the neighborhood next to ours has a lot of rental houses and fewer restrictions on leashed dogs than our neighborhood and i have heard of some renters who have 3 pit bulls, one of whom had to be put down or taken away.

being the idiot dog lover that i am, i treated it nicely and petted him so that i could check his tag. the address was too far in the opposite direction so i kept running back towards my house. of course the dog followed me all the way home. great. so i went inside my house to call the number on the tag....disconnected. awesome. the dog ran off again so i have to let it go.

i'm going to have to rethink my headphone thing now, but i love running to my music. i may just put only one earbud in from now on or something.

jooj - i made chocolate chip biscotti! tonight i am making candy cane biscotti to take to the party!

ooh, poppy. i'm glad you're okay. i had a scarry pit bul incident while running once that my body completely relives every time i see a dog while running. he must've known you're a dog lover!

Totally OT: I'm about to put pineapple casserole in the oven (a special treat around here) and also significant as the first thing I have cooked from scratch for dinner possibly since I got pregnant.

ETA: Loftmama, love the pictures. Is the lake totally frozen yet? (As a Southerner I know nothing about freezing of lakes.) The boys look like they are having a ball in the snow!

Good afternoon mamas!

I'm and typing left handed, so look out!

We had a great time at a b-day party today...a great big obnoxious expensive one. :

I'm waiting for a mama from craigslist to meet me here to buy an oven I have been trying to sell forever....tg the thing is finally gone!....I hope.

I need to run tonight, but I'm exhausted. Reagan has not been sleeping well. She just might be teething....but it's making me crazy. I took a picture of her yesterday and she looks like she is almost 9 months old :

Subbing.....

Totally envious of the snow you easterners are getting. We're bare here, in fact, it's 50 deg and sunny out. :

Coffee. Sumatra or Nicaraguan dark roast, burr grinder, Melita drip filter into a Thermos. Dh hates coffee makers. Megs, parenthood killed the home latte habit here too! We have a great local shop nearby that makes killer Pumpkin Spice lattes - the owner makes her own spice concoction - far better than Starbucks.

Oh Poppy, how scary. I've been chased (or had them launch at me) by pitbulls several times while running, among other various dogs. Luckily they go straight for my dog first, so I'm somewhat safe. No worries for her, she has aggression issues of her own and always puts them in her place... combine that with me getting in their face and screaming the usual "NO. YOU GO ON!" in my Mad Mama Bear mode, and they usually run away. But I shake for miles afterwards!

I've also found lost dogs several times while running, and have luckily been able to reunite the dogs with the owners all but once. The one time I had to leave a voicemail and didn't have a leash was on my 20 miler before my marathon. He had tags, and was about 2 miles from home. I got him running with me in the right direction, and after a while he left the trail, so I hope he went home. It was a HOT day and he was all foamy at the mouth.. I worried about him the rest of the day. :

Modmom - Good on ya!

Beth - For vomiting, is there a certain idea you are rejecting? Something you just can't "stomach"? For diarrhea, it usually equals fear, being too much in the future instead of the "right now", etc. Something to think about, at any rate. I hope you feel better very soon!

Lofty - So glad you are sharing the snowman love!

PO7 - Have you tried highlands teething gel? If you aren't opposed to it, sometimes it can work wonders.

Eks - Pineapple casserole? That sounds... intriguing. What else is in it?

Jaygee - I really think with TV it is all about moderation... Every now and then DD will want to watch a ton of TV one day, but I don't worry about it because after that she won't want to watch any for a week. Good for you on cutting back a bit.

I should really run outside in the freezing cold & ice with my dog today. But I really want to run on the TM and continue watching Bridge to Tarabitha instead.

You're so diplomatic!

Towsonmom is on the BALL! 12/3, and cards are out already. Whooo-wee.

We're aiming at news years cards.

Man, the wind is blowing here today. Supposed to have up to 50 mph winds tonight. Is there a blown away smilie?

JayGee, my DH has actually taken to watching football games online (and no, you don't actually see the game, but the ball movement on a field). We don't have cable and he hasn't really watched games on tv for a number of years, I guess due to the fact that I hate football. What a sweetie.

My inlaws are in town, although not staying with us (thank you, jesus!). They are taking the girls to see the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall tomorrow. My MIL is such a freak. She worries about all these New York things, as a tourist would, but about us. Ummm, we live here and have for 9 years. I think we can manage getting around. I asked DH how does she think that we manage when she isn't thinking of us.

Off to make tea for the girls and get them to bed.
