Ticking Time Bomb Baby

I just nursed Conrad and put him down about 10 minutes ago and I am waiting for the time bomb to go off... last night he woke up about every 45 minutes. My husband and I took turns nursing and rocking and soothing. We could get him to sleep and put him down, but within 20-40 minutes he would be up again. :

I'm REALLY hoping that tonight it not a repeat of last night. I am hoping it was just a factor of the 3 week growth spurt... although it didn't even seem like he was eating much when I was nursing him.

Someone please remind me that this part does not last forever and that it will get easier soon.... and does anyone know how soon "soon" is???

This too shall pass...I hope Hope you had a more restful night tonight!

Man, Piper was up way too much last night too. I didn't look at the clock at all, but I can tell you she was up at least 6 or 7 times in the 7.5 hours I was in bed. My boobs are very empty this morning. Normally, she nurses more during the day than at night, so I wake up with full breasts. Not today. Two nights ago, she slept a 5.5 or 6 hour stretch! Guess she made up for that last night. Ugh.

Oh, that is so hard.

My girls are 5.5 weeks now and are sleeping a lot better and sleep times are a bit more predictable.

That's what I needed to hear.... Last night was better, with 2.5 hour to 3.5 hour intervals. I think the key is that I really need to work on keeping him awake and eating, otherwise he wants to snack-sleep-snack-sleep... and once we get into a cycle where he is having trouble settling down to sleep, I have less patience to spend the time on a good feed because I'm tired and just want to go to bed and SLEEP.

I also tried putting him on his side... not sure if that made a difference.

have been right there with you the past two weeks... Dean was a *little* better last two nights but his reflux is really getting to him at night... hopefully soon is soon.... I guess we will all see..

It IS hard when babies are so unpredictable, but it does change as they get older. Silas is starting to do better and he''ll be a month in a few days (.

I just keep telling myself when things are not going as they should: I am strong. I can survive this. It will all be different in two weeks' time.

Hoping things continue to improve for you Erica. I find the more awake time they have during the day, the better they sleep at night too (for now at least).

I swear, Conrad and James must have been hanging out together wherever baby souls wait to be born. Every time you post something, I've just experienced it or will experience it in the next 48 hours. I can't wait for your "he slept through the night and only wanted to nurse once!" post.

The side thing really helps us get that 2-3 hour stretch at night. I think he startles himself awake on his back and if I put him to sleep on his side (or if he rolls over to his side, the little overachiever) he doesn't seem to startle as much.

The sleep/snack thing is driving me nuts!! I've been feeding him on one side only, because he really shows no interest in continuing onto the other side, but I make sure he eats for a good 10-15 minutes first.

He definitely eats more often during the day, but so far doesn't have too much awake-and-alert time. It will be easier when he has a better awareness of his surroundings.

Yeah, we just started getting awake and alert time about 4 or 5 days ago. It's so cute to watch them just stare at the ceiling fan, entranced.

Yeah, suddenly today we had a big patch of alert time. LOL about the ceiling fan... Staring up at the clothes stacked in our closet was a big hit with Dylan. Conrad spent about 20 minutes staring at the crack between our wall and the dresser. It's like being with someone who is on drugs 24-7...

Seriously! Piper is awake and happy a lot now! She loves to stare at us for hours, literally. Oh, and her pack-n-play is right next to the Christmas tree, she gets so entranced starting at the pretty lights. She's gotten much easier this week.

:Mairaed was up every hour last night- I should not have bragged so soon about how awesome her sleeping habits were. She was sleeping about 11:30-7:00 only waking up once. Not anymore! I am exhausted today and she has not taken a nap yet.

It sounds like maybe Mairaed's 3 week growth spurt has come early...
