The amazing poop-less baby

Ok... Sorry, another poop thread. But that's what I've got going on these days...

Little James (who is breastfed) has not had a poop in 48 hours. What's up with this??? I keep reading how breastfed babies can't be constipated. He's nursing like a champ, I've got tons of milk, but the baby doesn't poop.

He's fussy, but then again, he's always fussy.

???? Is this O.K.?

He'll probably have one that blows out his diaper any minute now. Caleb did that a few days ago and just when I was starting to get worried cause he hadn't gone in a day and a half, be dropped a BIG one!

I think some BF babies just save it up and let it out all at once. Others have the "usual" 5-6 poops per day. Just depends on the kid.

I have a friend whose second dd only went every 7-10 days from birth. The kid was the chunkiest baby ever! Her body just used every last bit of nutrients from her mama's milk! Didn't waste much at all. She was perfectly healthy!

Yeah, everything I've ever read/heard indicates this is OK. I long for a baby/toddler who isn't pooping every hour. On Saturday I changed over 12 poopy diapers!!! And I only have 2 children!

48 hours is nothing!

DD1's record was 6 day! When she finally pooped, it was a load of laundry. ALL her clothes and ALL of my clothes, and the blanket she was wrapped in.

I'm just glad she had gotten fussy and I picked her up out of the bouncy seat. I hate having to wash those covers.

She RARELY pooped more often than every 2-3 days (and yes, EBF). And she almost always needed a change of clothes when she pooped because no diaper created ('sposie, cloth, etc) could contain her poop.

We called her the "super-pooper."

When DD2 pooped everyday, it was so odd for me! I didn't have to change her clothes! I didn't even have to do laundry if I didn't want to . . .

Same here! DD1 once went 11 days, OMG. I was getting so worried, but then I learned that constipation is about consistency, not frequency. So as long as the eventual poop is soft and the baby is not in distress, everything is OK.

If you are worried, you can "take his temperature." That stimulation may be all he needs to go. (Be prepared!!!)

What she said. Conrad has gone about 36 hours poopless and then everything just sort of blew out of his butt... be on the look out.
