Anyone heard of this CBE certification?

I got an e-mail from these folks and my curiousity was peaked. Not that I need any more alphabet soup right now but their program looks interesting...and expensive. Just wondered if anyone has heard of them before.

I've met someone who is a BBB instructor, but I don't really know anything about the program.

Me too! Got it last night. And not sure where they got my e-mail, since it's one I reserve for doula stuff...I guess from a doula site?

Hi Michelle! Congrats on #8!

I"m hearing more about it lately. It seems to be gaining popularity.

I get these too. I got emails from 4 "new" "different" "more natural" doula orgs last year.

I don't really see the point of all these different orgs coming out. I mean it sort of hurts the validity of everyone when you can get a cert form 100 different places. I don't find most parents can tell one from another anymore.

Yeah, I see your point. There are a zillion certification options available. I think its both good and bad that there are so many. I was intrigued by BBB b/c it seemed different from most of what's already out there.

I personally think it's good that there are a lot of different options. It's not as if there is ONE way to be a doula, or really, any need to be certified by anyone to be a good doula. I got my training through ALACE and as an organization find I am on the same page with them way more than with DONA. I'm glad I had the option.

whoops...I read this wrong, thought it was another doula training. Still, I think there's plenty of room for different types of CBE certifications. There's lots of different philosophies out there and it gives parents more opportunity to find someone they are aligned with.

I think you make an excellent point. I once sat in on a collegue's red cross classes so I could sub in for her if need be. While there are folks who benefit from those types of classes, I found them to be very basic. I did the BFW training several years ago and would have loved to teach those classes, I found that for most of my students it was just way too out there. I finally settled on a nice mix of a few different philosophies.

I agree though, I don't think CBE is a one-size fits all deal.
