Baby acne

Mairaed has a little cluster of pimples between her eyebrows. I consulted my man Dr Sears who states that you should wash the baby with a mild soap and water. What does this mean? Like, Ivory? Johnson's baby wash?

She decided to sprout these pimples right before her holiday picture is getting taken. She is still beautiful though....

We have a pimple here and there, but no clusters. A mild soap would be one that's meant for babies, so if you have a baby soap, that should be fine. The more natural, the better, of course...

But I would be careful, because it may just dry her out. And I wonder why advocate using anything as it's not going to make it go away. I would just wipe the area clean with a plain, wet wash cloth a couple of times per day to reduce the oils.

My girls both have it, too. My older kids did as well. I never did anything special, mostly just washed them with water, actually. It cleared up pretty quickly!

My babe has it, so did my other two. Just on the face and I only wipe his face with water twice a day and put a bit of Aveeno baby lotion on. I am not comfy using any soap on his face but for his body we use Aveeno baby stuff which even my super sensitive 5 yo can use and he still gets bouts of eczema if I use the wrong stuff on his skin...

Caleb has a little bit on his neck and upper chest. It looks more like heat rash to me...but I just wash him with warm water. I *do* use soap on his hands (and sometimes the top of his head) cause that's the only place(s) that pp really touch and he sucks his hands occasionally. I think mild soap would be one specifically made for babies, but sometimes soap can make stuff like that worse...

nak. i forgot to say that you can squirt a little breastmilk on there a few times a day, spread it around and let it dry. it should help.

Poor Sam is covered with it too, seems to flare up a bit here and there but he has had it for almost two weeks now to some degree. He has a clogged tear duct as well, which makes his eye really water and I wonder if that doesn't make the acne worse as well. I do the water and breastmilk thing as well.

Just an FYI, we've yet to use soap on Lach. No soap, no shampoo. Just warm water and that's enough to dry him out if it's often. He's not stinky at all. We'll probably use soap once soon, then just water again for a couple of weeks. We'll take it a day at a time.

Yeah, Zoe has it too. I just use a wet washcloth, no soap. We do use Burt's Bees baby wash/shampoo (smells sooooo good!) on her hair and body once or twice a week, but not on the face. I hadn't thought of the breastmilk thing, but come to think of it, she's got no acne on her chin where the milk drips down when she falls asleep on the boob! I should squirt some on her cheeks, see if it helps!
