D'oh! I still haven't made my 6 wk appointment. Really gotta do that...

It will be around Christmas time, so I'm hoping to bring in some cookies, plus I'll make a donation to the birth center. We changed insurance mid-pregnancy and our new plan covered more of the costs, so we decided to donate the difference in cost back to the center.

I've been thinking about this too - I have NO idea!!!

We did the knitted uterus as many of you know (http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ghlight=uterus)

but I also do the following: Send them a birth announcement with a personal message, give them a nicely printed copy of the birth story and write a letter of commendation to the body in charge of midwifery about the care we received and give them a copy of the letter. They've really liked both having the letter in their file and getting a copy of the birth story.

I didn't do anything for my MW last time (except finish paying her LOL)... it hadn't occurred to me that I would get any kind of gift this time either. Am I a rude, thoughtless person? It seems like $2100 is enough...

Well, I don't have to pay here, and I really like my MWs and want to keep them happy with me in case we do decide to have #3 (Although my MW already told me that she'd be happy to be our MW again before we did the gifts).

Well I still have to buy it but I'm pretty sure this is what I'm getting. http://www.goodgiftsshop.org/product...y=&catref=5010
I might give her some special tea that I make too...

No, I don't think so. My heart's really not into it and $3500 seems to also be enough, you know?? Plus I can only imagine with about 30 babies per month they get a LOT of gifts, so why would mine be special? I dunno.. PLUS I don't even LIKE one of them and feel slightly abandoned by the other.

Yup, think I just decided not to do anything! My midwives thank you, Tara!

honestly,, the best gift is a heartfelt thank you note... I get lots of "stuff" at the holidays etc,, and it really is appreciated but my favorite "things" are the hand writen thank yous I get... they mean a lot more than gifts to us practitioners... alos photos included is a bonus.. I keep all my notes in a special album at the office.. it is nice

ps I wrote a nice note to the whole staff as well as sending the fruit flowers and a pic announcement of dean for their board..
