Maybe not a hallmark of lactivism but a small funny moment of a EBFing mama...
We were in a local "design district" (read: fancy shmancy shopping street) in this huge funky store that's really a bunch of areas rented out to different sellers, and as DH and I go by one, and I'm wearing DD in the wrap, we hear these two women sorta arguing about a product they have on a tall turning stand... one says, "Well, any parent would know what that is, ask any parent-- ask her!" and she points to me. I glance at the product and I can't tell what it is, but I see the name has something about bottles in it. I feel a little bad--she points to me, of all mamas?
. I shrug. I say, "Sorry, we don't use bottles." The other woman starts cracking up. I tell DH as we walk away "I lost her argument for her!" But maybe that's just one more seed planted with the idea that babies don't always need bottles (not for them selling stuff, b/c obviously they want to make money... but maybe with their kids, or their grandkids...
