Sweet! I just read a good review of it in Newsweek, and just now finished reading about it on IMDB. It has an 8.6 rating on there, which is really good. I hope it plays here in my town.

I have been excited to see it since I saw the trailer, but I know it's going to make me cry because it looks so similar to my own story. I loved the sarcasm and sense of humor portrayed even in the preview - I and my family dealt with my teen pregnancy in much the same way. It helps lighten the mood!

An MDC mama is featured on the soundtrack?? How cool is that?

It's a great story. I definitely cried, but I laughed a lot more. I think a lot of people are going to relate. It's perfect.
Yes, Kimya is an amazing mama! Check her out. She's a truly beautiful person. I can't imagine a world without her music!

Can someone pm me with spoilers? I don't want to see it if she ends up surrendering the baby, but it otherwise sounds like a good movie to me.

I had a date with dh for my (early) birthday.

It was so much fun and real. We both laughed and cried.

And the music was just perfect for the movie. I can't wait to see what else Ellen Page does next. And I will definitely be checking out Kimya's music.

I haven't seen it yet either but plan to soon. I heard this interview on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

I feel the same here. It looks cute, but if she ends up giving the baby up, it would be too hard for me to see. I was a teen mom as well, but for me the thought of giving up a baby that I could raise myself (despite whatever hardships I might encounter) just because I was young and single didn't make any sense to me. Not that I feel adoption is wrong, but I hate the adoption system in the US (I feel that it is unethical to both adoptive parents and biological parents) and I hate the way it is colored through the media and even through adoption agencies. I think that many more teens would keep their babies if there were more social programs to help them do so.

Anyhow...I'm getting OT...sorry. This is just a very raw topic for me. I'm really excited to hear that the soundtrack features an MDC mama! Awesome.
