Been Awhile

I first came here when I was pregnant, getting information on unassisted homebirth. This site was so helpful. I read a lot here. I only have internet access at work cuz "me so poo" and can't aford it at home, lol. Late in my pregnancy, I found a Lay Midwife to come to my home and assist me with my homebirth. Long story short, I lost my birth fantasy and wound up getting a Csection June 8, 2007 :. My daughter will be 6 months old December 8th--and I still can't write about her birth. It's on my mind every single day. It keeps me awake at night. I have flashbacks daily. It was the worst day of my life. I'm in counseling--hasn't helped yet, but it's a start. But, it's sad....the day my beautiful daughter came into the world was the absolute worst day of my life. She was born on a Friday--every Friday I re-live what happened. Every 8th of the month, I re-live what happened. I just wish I could forget.

I didn't come back to work until she was 5 months old. I was lucky enough to have saved up enough money to stay home with her. I browsed this site a couple of times, but being here was just too painful--remembering the planning of my birth fantasy that I lost. Reading about mom's who had their homebirths hurt (and still does). But, I've trained myself to just avoid the pregnancy/birth area. If I don't see it, it won't hurt as much.

I love this site and this message board. I love that most all people here are pretty much on the same wave length with parenting and living naturally. I'm a mostly-hippy mama. I nursed Lily for 2 months, but my boobs are broke and it didn't work out. : (I did come here for BF help then, but it was really hard to look at this forum then). So, she's on formula now. We co-sleep and we both love it. She's had ZERO vaccinations. (When I was pregnant, I opted against vax just because it wasn't natural. Now that she's here and I've done more research, I've learned about all side effects of vaxing (autism, delayed speech, death, etc etc) and I'm so happy I didn't vax her. This forum has helped tremendously with helping me research and make decisions about my daughter). I wasn't able to nurse her like I wanted, but I'm sort of making up for it now--I make all of her baby food from scratch. I love making her food and she loves eating mama's home cooking. None of that bland-yucky-full-of-preservatives-and-added-fillers-commercial food for her! She gets spices to tingle her senses and foods that commercial brands would never sell.

Anyway. I just wanted to do an official "hello" since when I first came here, I jumped right into the pregnancy/birth area without an introduction. I'm looking forward to chatting with other parents and getting to know all of you.

Welcome! Sorry you didn't get the birth you hoped for. Hopefully your next birth (if you plan on having another ) will go much better!!

I had an unplanned, much un-wanted ceserean as well And, I totally know what it feels like to think about it constantly. When you are ready, there is a thread in the Personal Growth forum about healing from your c-section.

Welcome! I know how hard it is, I also did everything right for a natural birth and ended up having a c/s.
