doll trouble

Thread Starter
I am having trouble attaching the legs to my waldorf doll. I didn't use a pattern, just cut out a body, 2 arms, and two legs. Stuffed them, attached the head, now I can get the arms and legs on! I've got doll needles but it's still not working. What did I do wrong? DS loves him but he needs arms and legs, he looks like a freaky alien

With doubled thread on your needle, run long, gathering stitched at the top of each limb to close it off tight- pull the the thread like a drawstring and tie it off so that no stuffing can come out. Then, pin thet limbs to the body, where you want them to be and with double thread, using a "blind back stitch", sew the limb to the body with small 1/8" stitches all the way around.
