cough for no reason?

Do babies ever cough for the same reason as sometimes they sneeze when they are not sick? My baby is 7 weeks old, healthy as can be but sometimes she lets out a single cough randomly (not everyday). Can it be from an environmental irritant, dry throat, or anything other than sickness? My instinct tells me nothing is wrong. I can't find any info on coughing that isn't related to illness. No one even notices when she has coughed but I am with her 24/7 so I notice every little tiny thing.

I've actually been wondering this too. My baby still coughs sometimes. It's just a little cough and never sounds mucusy or anything. She used to cough a lot right after nursing (I had overactive let down) and would sometimes cough if she spit up. She still spits up a lot, so I wonder if sometimes the cough is related to that? Don't know if that helps, but I'd love to see what other moms say.

i think the coughing is just bc they are still learning to swallow, and sometimes don't get everything down. i think drooling maybe makes it worse. dr sears talks about it in his big baby book - i don't own one, but i remember reading about this when i borrowed a copy. I might be misremembering the causes of the cough, but I do know it's (usually) normal.

my babe still does it!
