What do your 12-14 yo DS's want for Christmas?

I am really trying to think of something to give to my 2 nephews who are 12 and 14. All they have listed that they want are video games and video game related stuff. I *really* would love to think of alternatives that they would like. What would a boy that age like, that isn't a video game??

At that age, just get them what they ask for. That's what they want. Anything else will most likely be tossed aside.

My boyfriend's 14 you daughter just wants Apple and Abercrombie Gifts Cards. So that's what she'll get. Maybe I'll put them in a cute purse or something.

I have 6 nephews 13 and older, and one son who is 13, so I have a bit of experience in this area . When I tried to get my nephews anything other than what they wanted, they would roll their eyes, and/or toss the thing aside with a perfunctory thank you. I quickly learned to get them a) money, b) giftcards to Game Stop, or Borders (for CDs), or Best Buy. That's it, that's what I do for my 6 nephews.

For my own son, here's what's on his list this year: A video game player - we've never had one - and video games . He wants a Wii or a Playstation. My husband has been absolutely against them, until this year when I convinced him that not all video games are centered around plots involving murder, war, auto theft, and prositution. . Dh even thinks the Wii sounds pretty cool, so I think that's what we're getting. My 11 y.o. dd wants one too, so it's all good.

I have to agree with PP. Gift cards are always great if you don't want to/don't feel confidant about picking out the actual stuff. Good luck!

Er, the ONLY thing he will tell ANYONE s an Xbox 360. (well, he also wants an Ipod touch ) we don't have that kind of money, but I really want to give him the chance to find a way t get what he wants. I am telling everyone to give him money towards it. I am trying to find a used one I am upset that he may not have anything tangible on Xmas am, but it is a lesson in patience and saving/planning for him.

For a boy who is not my son, I would go with a giftcard unless the mama can give me a specific. They can just be so picky (so can the girls)

If anyone can find a WII for less than double the retail price atm, please tell me where!

My son loves K'nex, and he's very into video games. The K'nex keeps him happy when he's grounded off the video games and / or outside of his available gaming hours.

You do could CG to the movies, or a book or two. My 14 yr old would love a restaurant GC. He also likes sports, and apparently you can't have too many drumsticks or drum pads...lol

I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend. My boys are 12 and almost 15 and these are some of the less expensive items:

Pirates 3
Cool tees
boxers
pajama pants
belt with big(ish) buckle
digital camera
electric shaver for older boy
R/C helicopter
Docking sation for IPod that will charge and play their music for alarm
Vans
iTunes gift cards

DS (almost 12) wants:

most things screen related
-wii
-PSP
-PS2 or PS3
-DS (not short for Darling son, is actually the name of a handheld video thing!)

He also likes/wants:
-anime/magna
-Mad magazine subscription
-a specific kind of sled
-more memory for the computer
-a yr long memebership to runescape
-camcorder or digital camera
-a cordless phone

GC to a videogame store would work well!
