whats going on (part 2)

I just weaned my DS off the nipple shield but now Im noticing other things. He's having tummy problems, he is now spitting up more and having greener poop; he now wants to nurse even more. Could this be because Im no longer using the shield? I have an over supply of milk.

I dont know if this could be a food allergy. How long does it take between the mom eating something to the baby exhibiting signs of food allergy?

It sounds like a foremilk-hindmilk imbalance, especially since you know you have an oversupply. Block feeding might be helpful to you. Take a look at this link and see if any of it sounds on target for you:

Thanks. It sounds like it. What I am trying to figure out is why the difference when I dont use the shield. We had seen similar symptoms earlier on and then I started block feeding and it was ok. He was still spitting up but no tummy ache and the spitting up was not to this extent. Could the nipple shield have been helping?

I think it's probably that the shield, well, shielded him a little from a forceful letdown. Your body and your baby will make this adjustment, though. Hang in there. I went through a similar thing. It will even out soon.
