2nd homebirth and very excited
dd was born at an ashram during my ayurvedic internship. i spent so much time meditating, reading, doing prenatal, connecting with the baby, preparing...
this time i have a 2 yr old, we just moved, and we're opening a restaurant in a week and a half. i'm a bit concerned about the added stress, but feel that when the time comes that meditative state that was so helpful through my last labor will come back instinctually.
i'm also a little more confident in myself this time, as i know i can do it. i also have a midwife who is very empowering. and i'm creating the birth i want through visualization and affirmation.
one thing i found very helpful in preparing was something i found in pregnant feelings, by rahima baldwin and palmarini
. it was about writing a letter (unsent) to a person about something that bugged you about your last birth. i wrote a letter to my dd's midwife letting her know about the two (minor) things that got to me at the birth. it felt good to acknowledge these things, and let them go.
right now i'm reading my midwife's book, this sacred life, transforming our world through birth.
she is all about empowering the mama. i'm loving it, as well as working with her.
she was here 2 nights ago and dropped off the birthing tub. i have pretty much everything else, but really need to unpack it
. i also need to join the local co-op buyers club so i can order a case of organic recharge. yum! the recharge with rrl ice cubes was perfect at dd's birth. i'll have lots on hand, but also more warm teas, due to the time of year, and that way i'm prepared for whatever my body wants. as far as food goes, i ate a jalapeno/pineapple pizza when labor started last time and wasn't hungry for the next 20 hours. this time i have a couple of yummy soups in the freezer just in case, as well as miso for broth in the fridge.
