So tired of people!

I am to the point where I absolutely *hate* taking my DCs to school because of all the comments. Every day I have to see the other moms and hear "You're still here!" and "Weren't you due a long time ago?" and "Aren't they going to induce you yet?" For the most part we were conservative and told people we were due around Thanksgiving so they don't realize how incredibly late I really am... but even if they thought I was due on Thanksgiving that is a long time past and they are starting to realize it. There is no way to avoid the comments.

I really am not going that crazy waiting, and I don't feel too bad other than the sinus infection I am fighting, but the other people just make me want to crawl in a hole...

You could lie and tell them they think your dates were off??

Yeah I thought about that but I am so tired of people assuming that my dates must be off (which seems like a pretty personal thing to make assumptions about) so I don't really want to reinforce it. And I have a hard enough time admitting I'm wrong when I really am... lying and saying I was wrong about something would go against every fiber of my being LOL!

Plus I kind of want to raise awareness, you know? That you don't have to be a sheep and get induced just because you are 40/41/42 weeks or whatever. Of course I'd rather do that PSA after the baby is here, but my belly is a pretty large and unavoidable advertisement right now.

I TOTALLY agree with you. And I think you're strong for not taking the easy way out!

I'm sorry Tara. I sure hope that baby decides to join you on the outside soon. I can see how totally frustrating that would be. Did you go this late with your others?

I am 43 weeks and 4 days today. Sheesh! I knew I would be late but never expected to be this late. DD came on her own at 9 days past, DS was induced at 12 days past and came the next day. Though now I wonder how long I might have carried him!!

ETA: You know, I was the one who started the who will be first/who will be last thread. Apparently I jinxed myself!

Not in your ddc but saw under new posts. I was 11 days late with dd3 (my homebirth). I actually thought it was fun to freak the mainstreamers out (especially because I present mainstream so it surprised everyone. I went to a high school graduation party for our previous neighbors' dd when I was 10 days late. So fun!

"When are you due?"
"Ten days ago."
(freaking out)"Why doesn't your doctor induce you???"
"I don't have a doctor; I have a midwife."
"Why doesn't she induce you???"
"She doesn't believe in that." (big smile)

They then were generally speechless, and we went about other topics of conversation.

I think it is sad that people assume we are miserable and hating every minute of pregnancy. I enjoyed every day, even the last 11!

Congrats on your upcoming birth day!

Yeah, it was kind of fun up to about 2 weeks. Now I don't feel like I can even tell people the truth. So I just say "A long time ago" and laugh. I think once he's here, telling people he was a month late will be pretty cool. But right now, not so much.
