Hi fellow Louisianan! I'm from the B.R. area!
There is a midwife in lafayette, one just past Hammond, & one that just recently returned to Baton Rouge (she's a legend). Where are you in LA. The lafayette midwife only does birth center births but the birth center is BEAUTIFUL. The one just past Hammond I have heard was in a little trouble for not having an O.B. back up. The third is major off the radar because she just moved back to B.R. & isn't activily advertising. I spoke to her last week though & she is taking on moms. If your from this area & have been asking around you probably have heard of her by now. P.M. me for more of her info!

I'm from CENLA but live in Ruston now. I grew up on Kincaid Lake close to Tunk's and my mom still lives out there. DC #2 is due in Aug and I can't even find a doula much less a midwife up here. Luckily my OB is VBAC supportive and I'll also be having this one in Monroe. I would never want to go to the hospital here for any reason. I would love a home birth but I'm just not brave enough this time around.
