What do you love about your child's school?

I am trying to get the guts to make the decision to put my kids in school come September because I know it is what's best for them but I am afraid I will be so sad being away from them. Anyways I would like encouraging stories about what you love about your child's school and what positive things you feel come out of your child going to school. Thanks!

I'll quickly add the school I found sounds really great. It's a private Christian school with only 75 students from K-grade 8. Each class is a split class (jk/sk, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) and has an average of 14 students total. They go from 9:00am-3:30pm with two 15 minute recesses (morning and afternoon) and a 50 minute lunch recess (20 minutes for lunch and 30 minutes for play). They have French classes and music classes as well as all the regular subjects and they are very family oriented. They have a chapel every Friday morning that parents are invited to attend and they have frequent gatherings for all the families at the school.

A lot of the parents at my school really love the children having new friends, and furthermore, YOU might make friends with some of the other mothers. It's a new social network for you too. If it sounds like a great school, I would try it. Homeschooling is always an option if you need it, but it sounds like you've got a great opportunity here.

The school that you're considering sounds a lot like dd's school. We've been really happy with it because it is more like a family than an educational institution.

I don't love everything about my ds' school, but I do love the people. They are very warm and loving. They are also extremely creative. I like how they support my ds' intersts. A long time ago, I overheard a conversation started by 8 yr old worried about parent conferences. The teacher put her arm around him and said "Sweetie, I am going to tell your parents how beautifully you're growing". I almost cried *right there*. The child beamed and snuggled in. So, above all else, I am grateful for the compassion and gentleness of the teachers at his school.

How amazingly child centered my child's pub. school is. How individual her education is. How much she loves her teachers. How great it is to drop off in the morning and not worry one bit. We are very lucky.

At my dd's school, I like how they are really focused in on the kids, from the teachers, principals, even the custodians. The kids seem really happy and the teachers don't talk down to the kids, they try to understand them. I have also made friends w/some of the parents as well.

I love my kids' school, and what I love most is how kind and caring the staff is (I mean they REALLY love these kids!) and how well behaved the student body is. The staff has found a perfect balance between being strict but still being really nice to the kids.

Split classes he is K/1(Ds will have his same teacher again next year), great "specials", music, dance, and art. Very involved parents, emphasis on being a community(in the classroom, within the community of our city, as students and teachers working together), K-8, very low mobility in the teachers, and of course his teacher! She is fabulous! We're lucky to have this school, it's crunchy and alternative It is a public school as well.

I love my 2 hours alone in the afternoon. I didnt at first, I was lost without any kids home (I just sent my youngest to kindy) but now I really love my time alone in my house. To do nothing. Or not. Its a great refresher for me.

I also love the friendships I've made with other parents. I love watching my children grow into these people with friendships that they cherish.

My oldest 3 children all had the same 3rd grade teacher who I adore. He's the main reason I chose the school I did. I think I cried each time my kids finished the 3rd grade. lol My kids still talk about the best yr of their lives with that guy. Good thing dh likes him as well. I also have a semi-crush on their old school music teacher, too. All this to say, I miss them! It's easy for parents to get attached too. lol

My 3 kids go to prek at my local public school. One of my favorite things to do is come early to pick up time, when the kids are outside on the playground and "spy" on them outside with their friends.

I LOVE that my kids love school. I love how delighted they are about the things they are learning. I love their teacher and the para in the class.

I think it is really really about each teacher. If you feel good about the teacher, and if you kids like their teachers, it will be great.

I love that my children love their school and are learning.

I love most of their teachers.

I have a long list of things I don't love but my kids are happy.
