I don't think I am eating enough. I'm nursing my littlest (he's only 16m almost) a few times a day but my milk is really low in supply.

I'm allergic to potato so I can't eat enriched foods (those vitamins they put in there to enrich the food are grown on a potato base and make me horribly sick and in pain) and most processed food is also out for me. I think I was eating enough for me before, but now that I'm pg, I really don't think what I'm eating is cutting it.

I know this is kind of a "duh, she should know" question, but what range is good for a pg/sorta nursing Mom? And does it matter that my quality of food is really good even if the calorie intake isn't on the high end?

It's not on purpose that I'm not eating a lot. I'm having trouble feeling hungry, and little sounds good (still on the tail ends of morning sickness here... I'll be 12w on Sunday). I kind of hesitate to MAKE myself eat, but I will if I need to.

I ate every few hours today (not exactly two, but two and a half hours apart or so) and I did feel a little better. Still sucked on the water intake (ugh, I don't know why I have such a hard time with this!). But again, in the evening I'm not feeling good. I've noticed I don't feel good when I'm tired so maybe I should just listen to that better...

It's funny how, only PG momma can understand that, while we NEED to eat more, sometimes we just don't feel like it!!!

I do better if I nosh frequently throughout the day; and I feel better if my protein intake is adequate. It seems to stick with me longer. Don't get me wrong ... I LOOOOVE pasta, potatoes, crackers, bread, etc, but I'm just trying to make sure I'm adding some protein along in there, too.

I think Kyla mentioned finding a resource that stated 2300 calories....

Sadly, I think my nursing days are drawing to a close. I don't think I'm making a whole lot of milk, and right now, nursing is so painful for me.

I'd stick with foods high in nutritional value ... in other words, if you can only eat a little bit, make sure it's something really good.

My midwife told me 2800 for pregnant and nursing. I have noticed that if I don't eat enough I literally don't have any milk. Quality matters, but so does calories. Eat an avocado! Drink cow's milk, eat whole fat yogurt and cheese! I have no trouble filling the requirement... but I eat like a cow pregnant or not. I have been really into burritos this time. Full of protein, and with guac, cheese and sour cream, you are really upping the calories.

TWENTY EIGHT HUNDRED??? Oh my gosh, there is NO way I am getting that. No way.

I use whole milk in my things (though I use 2% to actually drink), eat whole milk yogurt/cottage cheese, cream cheese, eat plenty of regular cheese, whole veggies, grains... but there is absolutely no way I'm getting 2800 calories. Woah...

Man, glad I asked! I'm going to do an overhaul this next week on quantity/dense calorie foods and see if I can up that. (Avacados hurt my stomach, or I'd eat them (b/c I *love* the way they taste)).
