errr... elastic. Must be an easier way

Hi mamas,

Ok so I have several questions....

First of all, I'm a newbie to sewing. In my life I've probably sewn about a handful of things. I decided that I really wanted to learn to sew well so I'm committing myself to this as a hobby with no other crafts until I learn really well.

Also, I'm taking a beginners sewing/quilting class that I love so far....I'm almost done with my first baby quilt. I love it

I have been reading through these posts because I would love to be good enough to sew some dipes. Last night I decided to experiment by making a diaper for my poor dog...heeehee. Don't worry , she actually needs it I think I have made a workable dog dipe!! (pictures will follow)

However, I was struggling with the elastic....errrrr. There must be an easier way. I would love to hear some suggestions on how you've perfected your elastic sewing techniques. It seems that there are a few different ways of doing it...

using 3/8in polybraid..

you baste the end and stretch, then zigzag stitch down or

you baste the end, stretch and the baste the other end? I saw this technique explained on replacing the elastic in fb. Can you do this on other dipes if you create a mini casing?

Also, should I change to the tension when sewing elastic?

I know... so many questions?

Thanks so much!!

I have some Quicktime elastic sewing tutorials on my website
http://diaperkit.com/catalog/index.p...ewing-help.htm
Although they use my pattern, they should be helpful for most diaper patterns.

Thanks so much but I can't seem to get it to work? We have Apple computers too. I'm going to see if I can find something on Youtube.

Any other suggestions?

Usually if it's not working it's because you need to update your version of Quicktime. There's a "get quicktime" box to click on on that page. That usually fixes it.
