gift ideas for 14yo niece

I bomb every year, IMO, with my niece since she's become a 'big girl'. She's into the pop culture big time, has a very riske myspace page (again, IMO) and so I just don't know what to get her that will be within my own value system and something that she'll like/use/appreciate. She just made the varsity cheerleading team which is so huge - she's in 9th grade so I was thinking a klean kanteen or something like that - a sports water bottle thing that is of the stainless steel sort...or something she can use. Her mother is all about having the 'in thing' so she already has all the gucci and whatnot bags and cell phone and Ipod... she's always been ahead of her age, so she's into things a 19yo would be into...again, IMO

any ideas? thanks!

Does she have a fave brand of make-up or hair stuff? (Scuunci has some cool hair things, and my Dd likes NYC lip gloss for example.) Favorite author or candy? Maybe a little bag with various things like that and gift card for a store that she loves.

I like the journal idea, too. Maybe even a blank scrapbook with cheerleading paraphernalia (stickers, etc.) and paper in her school colors.

She's an athlete, really, the stainless water bottle is a good idea. I envision some foot lotions (Burt's Bees), and some natural energy bars to go with it (homemade would be sweet, if you think she'd appreciate it.)

I have a niece, too, around this age. Looking for ideas as well...

she used to be and then in the past few years has become a couch potato...now she's getting back into it and I really want to, not encourage, but maybe congratulate and give her a big type thing... I'm thinking the bottle is great, maybe with a bag of some sort, reusable of course , with some Burt's Bee stuff and whatnot... she used to be my little shadow and now she's a big girl...almost woman...and she's so ahead of where I was when I was 14. So not innocent (her mother's idea of a good thing) but I feel as if she wants more from life than those around her. I think encouraging her in her sports is a way to go... thanks!

I just found this Yoga Kit for Teen Girls

it's a little pricey, but she did do yoga with me a couple times with pregnancy #2 and said that she liked it...and it comes with a water bottle... I think this will be a hit! and no playboy bunnies, and still a hit ... oh, if you only knew...my SIL, her mother, is something else...anyway, way OT, not something I need to worry about, and besides, I found the perfect gift for my dear niece
